Anyone who likes novels about working class people struggling through life should read Stewart O'Nan. His writing has a flowing style that is enjoyable to read and his attention to the detail of his characters is exciting. For a first time read try Last Night at the Lobster. It's a story about the final night of a closing Red Lobster and how it affects the lives of it's employees. Or try The Good Wife about a woman who has to deal with her husband being incarcerated on a murder charge for 30 years. The last one I read, Snow Angelswas pretty good too, but if I had to choose one of the three as my favorite it would be Last Night at the Lobster.

I'm also about to read his latest Songs for the Missing which may not technically be out on the shelves just yet. My bookstore girlfriend gets advanced readers copies and she brought that one home for us to read. Should be good.

I'm also reading Neil Gaimen's American Gods which I cannot put down.
