Ivan is quite a passive-aggressive terror with the 'Eastern bloc' -- he's always (always, always) spying on Lithuania, and to a lesser extent the others -- I remember Russia appearing right after Latvia sobs out his life story to Sealand, and asks, "Latvia... do you... not like me?" with this eerily innocent smile.
In short, he spends most of his time terrorizing his 'children' and 'lovers' in the most understated and agonizing of ways.
(Are you fresh blood, SAY YES. ♥ I look forward to idolizing you.)
In Hetalia, Estonia covers some historical things concerning Russia; I'm sure much of this can be carried over to most of the Eastern Bloc:
In 1712 he was part of Russia, which was, according to him, a long time of suffering. It was during this time he was Russified by Russia in many different areas.
By 1940, though he'd gained independence, Russia took him again. (If I remember right, Estonia 'voted' [we know Russia's got its ways of making them do that] to be Soviet, and Lithuania and Latvia were also assimilated into the Soviet state.
Estonia says he "doesn't want to see a Cyrillic character for a long time." XD
I'm so happy to see you! And all I can offer is some cold war / communist historical info if you ever need. Russia character wise, is always looking innocent but insanely evil... except you probably know that.
And...yup, I love you already and am super pleased to see you.
in the WWII strips you coerced Germany into being friends (a.k.a. mutually non-aggressive) with you. he had no choice since you threatened to liquidate either Italy or Japan if he refused;] before you set out to meet Germany on a first date, you took FOREVER deciding what to wear. Belarus and Ukraine are your sisters, Ukraine being the eldest of the trio and Belarus the youngest. Ukraine laments about how her Russia-chan is not what he used to be (after the Revolution?)
