Still getting through one day at a time, not always well but getting through. Work is what it is. We'll be getting more help but it's going to take awhile yet to get people trained and up to speed. Then there's the nasty backlog....
One day at a time. I can't go into detail but our manager and our manager above her have given us a free day off and a little gift to say thank you for our hard work these last few months. Is it full compensation of all the overtime we worked without being asked? No, but we're on salary pay schedules so technically it's supposed to be included (granted, I doubt to the level we've done it). We've been working because it needed to be done and because there are customers at the end of the process.
I did get some work done in the garden last weekend, it was good to get some weeding done and to plant a few carrots, cauliflower & chard. I want to plant some more of each this coming weekend. We've had a fair bit of damp and rain over the last couple of days so at least I don't have to worry about watering the newly-planted seeds ;) The cuttings from the Broadway rose bush (that had borer and broke off on the main stem) had swollen top buds so fingers crossed they strike and grow. The rain will help.
A shout out here. Fleta is someone on my LJ flist. She's had a rough year and
is trying to raise funds to see her grandma & to help take care of her. Fleta is a good person. She's trying to sell furniture and get funds together by 1 July so she can move back to care for Grandma. I know it isn't easy for her to ask for help with this. We've all hit a low place and had things like this crop up.
If you can help, please pitch a couple pennies her way.
I ran out yesterday to check our work mail and there was a busker outside one of the buildings. We have a fair few buskers along the street. If I have some coin I try to toss something in their hat if they seem like they are trying or if they are pretty good. I was sadly in a hurry but caught a few moments of SamRB and liked her voice & clean guitar playing. I haven't had a chance to look her up until now & will listen to more of her music later this weekend. Take a look/listen, she's got a good voice and melody. Her song Everything is a kind of rock-pop but she also describes herself as folk/accoustic. I like Seems I Might Be Human & Life Has Just Begun.
Here's her Myspace where you can hear some of her musicand her Facebook for those of you so inclined or
You can pick up her album at iTunesThere's also a write-up about her debut album
here if you are interested. She has a lot of potential.
Oh, we're discovering (as I suspected) that Zephyr isn't completely deaf. She does respond to some noises but we'll need to figure out what level deafness she has. It's kind of interesting, having one completely deaf cat and learning the other one we thought was completely deaf is partly hearing. So now it's a case of learning her limits and adapting our training to them.
Bed time in a moment. I've got SamRB's Myspace songs playing, nice way to end the night--on a positive message and good tunes.
