I meant to post this last night but got distracted. I wrote it up and thought I posted it but must have missed that crucial "post" step. My step dad is back from the hospital. He's not 100%, still having breathing problems & has issues with his blood, but he's at least home. Mom said he looks better than when he went in. His red blood cell levels aren't as high as they would like but they're better than they have been.

Thank you to everyone for your comforting words & your thoughts & prayers. I appreciate it and my family does as well.

Other than that, I'm doing pretty well. Work was busy last week but I tried to not let the pressure get to me too much. I can't get it all done and I can't expect to. We should be back to only being 1 person down tomorrow so hopefully I'll be able to just focus on my work and get some of my old stuff cleared before we go on leave in a couple weeks.

And FEAR THE POWER OF TAFFY! LOL, I picked up some taffy from a fancy departement store last week and put a couple handfuls in the team candy jar. There were fruit, caramel, espresso, latte and cappucino flavours. One of my coworkers, M, really liked the coffee ones. I noticed one of the guys, R, was going back a few times and asked if he liked them. He said he liked the coffee ones. M went over and was looking for some while R picked some out & started to leave. M kept asking him what he had in his hands because there weren't any coffee ones in the jar. LOL, she kept saying "let me see your hands, let me see your other hand". The 2nd mini-almost-altercation involved our head manager & someone else wanting the last of the banana taffies. I figure if we send a small number of taffy to our company's top management maybe they'd be distracted by the taffy and stop offshoring our jobs. Or maybe they'd just be blissed out and not make stupid decisions.

Still working on the book. I have a question for the writers and the photographers out there. I have checked both the Waikumete website & the info board up near the crematorium. Neither say anything about no photography & I've seen other photographers there so know I'm not the only one. I'm sure I'd be ok doing the book with the photos I've taken. There aren't any obvious surnames in the photos, nothing an identity thief could use. I'm tempted to email the cemetery just to be sure it's ok, what do you think? I was also thinking of ordering a copy for the Friends of Waikumete so I could mention that. Or should I just keep going with my book and not worry about it?

Also, it's ok to use info on the Waikumete website if I'm not directly quoting it, and as long as I've noted my references correct? I don't need to get their permission unless I've quoted them directly. I haven't directly quoted and have only used a small portion of it. Also, I've got a couple 'books' (look like bound report type things) that I'll use information from. One of them says that no part may be "copied whole or in part" without permission. Again, if I'm using information but not quoting it is this ok or do I need to try to find the author and get their permission?

I figure many of you writers have needed to do research for your stories. I want to do this right and on the up and up. I don't want there to be any problems partly because that's me, but also because I don't want any issues when I enter it in the contest. Thoughts?

I'm fighting off a headache so I'm off to bed.
