M. Night Shyamalan Rocks Serious Shit. This is the man that did The Village (I liked it), Signs (ok, not wonderful, he's human), Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Lady In The Water (I don't think I've seen this one yet). And now? The Happening.
Wow. Freaky shtuff. Basic synopsis here along with a full synopsis if you want it. Basically (For those who don't want to click the link or risk spoilers (from the above site): It begins in Central Park. Suddenly and inexplicably, the behavior of everyone in the park changes in a most bizarre and horrible way. Soon, the strange behavior spreads throughout the city and beyond. Elliot, his wife, Alma, and Jess, the young daughter of a friend, will only have theories to guide them where to run and where to hide. But theories may not be enough.

It's creepy. I think its something akin to The Birds in some ways. Or it harkens back to the movies like Them: Them (the 1954 version) for those of you too young to have seen it (ok, so there's maybe a few of you who might have actually seen it here) people fuck with nature, nature fucks back with a glass-studded acid-dipped wooden dildo. So after a gladdening movie like The Happening, ya go for something light. Too bad we only checked that, Jason: Son of Evil and Sweeny Todd out tonight. :P So we're going for a rerun of Get Smart (movie).

I bought a couple shirts today. We stopped off at one of the smaller strip malls to pick up bread and something for dinner. There was a woman selling inexpensive business shirts and other stuff in the middle area. I've been looking for something kind of different (ie--other than blue or black) I can wear to work. I picked up 2 (2 for $20), a silvery grey one that is textured with lines and a light green with small greenish squares (about the colour of US $$). They aren't high quality (really??? 2 for $20NZ?!@?!?!) but they'll do for work and the odd dress up outside of work.
The tag that came with them is pure Engrish though! And since so many of you are fans of Engrish, I'll share the joy:

Went to coffee with one of the people I occassionally do work for. Her geographical area here in Auckland belongs to someone else but they are on leave so this person (well, most the people in that area) tend to call me with questions and stuff. It can be irritating when they are demanding but I don't mind questions when people are still learning.
Anyway, she took me to coffee yesterday since she's in the building across the street. It was nice of her. I think she was having a hard day. :( She was glad to get out of the building. She was telling me that she's appreciated the help I've given her (and the other person who usually does her work) through the year. She said that when she first started her manager told her to call me when she had a question come up and she couldn't figure out why because J usually did her work. I told her I don't mind answering her questions but when the other person is in she should call her first because I catch shit when I answer questions from another person's area. It was nice to sit and get to know her a bit, take a break from work. I took a shorter lunch and didn't take my morning break, even though my team leader said I could. I figured I was busy so wanted the time to do some work.

Another +, I told one of the guys I work with about my Zazzle. He and I have similar tastes in that kind of thing, we both wear serious ones but also enjoy novelty ties. He's into nature and the outdoors too. He said he tried to order one of my ties but had a prob with his card or Paypal or something and couldn't. I told him I"d order it for him with mine and he can pay me back. If you order 2 or more you get a 5% discount and I was already planning on ordering 2.
I put a few more up and am thinking of possibly this glowing edges cloud tie or possibly this same image but small tiles, am leaning towards the building tie or the feathers tie. I'm leaning towards the building one for now but do want to get the feathers eventually.
I've got other images to still use to create more ties. I'll work on a few this weekend but want to get some gardening in.
Ok, a long post. I've got some ideas for a long/deep post. I'll ponder it some more and put it up separately. For now: HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!
