Title: Fly away with me
Pairing: Wooyoung/Nichkhun
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Nichkhun is a ghost who haunts Wooyoung.
A/N: I've realized when going through my folders that I wrote a lot of sappy stories in the past lol.

A silence that is like heavy fog blankets the whole apartment; there is no noise to be heard. Dirty dishes pile up in the sink and bills waiting to be paid sit forlornly on the corner of the table. A light covering of dust coats a vase sitting along with the bills, the flowers in it dropping their petals slowly like tears. Clothes are strewn all over the floor, crumpled without an owner to hang onto. The magazines on top of them are open with the centerfolds spilled out like internal organs.

It seemed like forever since he has gotten out of the apartment. Though it’s probably been just a few days, the medicine has made a haze out of Wooyoung’s life. He doesn’t know when the sun rises or sets anymore, just knows when the hunger pains start and the urge to use the rest room is too great that he gets up. The calls from coworkers, friends, and doctors lessen day by day; he doesn’t even bother answering the ones he still gets. He isn’t lonely though; there are no thoughts of loneliness dancing through his mind anymore. There are only thoughts of sleep and of Nichkhun.

Nichkhun.

Nichkhun is an apparition who haunts him. He doesn’t remember when Nichkhun started appearing exactly, but he couldn’t imagine a life before it. Nichkhun followed him everywhere, to the market, to work, to sleep. He would always flit around the rooms of his apartment, rustling the newspapers around, dropping pens and pencils down to the floor, and poking Wooyoung, but his finger tips slip through like cold mist. Nichkhun never bothered him, his laughter like distant chimes filled his ears and cool brushes against his shoulder and hands were like threads of assurance that Wooyoung held onto these past few months. It meant that he was still alive, that Nichkhun was still there and that when he got better he could see the flickering image of him again; a playful grin on his face and teasing Wooyoung to catch him if he can.

But Wooyoung lies on the couch, one arm slung over his eyes and the other barely touching the glossy pages beneath it. He is sleeping, content breaths coming in and out slowly, finally at peace. In his dream he sees Nichkhun vibrantly, his hair a warm brown and skin softly shimmering. Nichkhun is staring straight at him, and Wooyoung feels a certain warmness pervade his core and shoot through his limbs, heating up body and soul. He feels lighter than he’s had in months, the lead-like heaviness has disappeared, the smell of terminal illness along with it. Nichkhun offers a hand towards him, an inviting smile on his lips shining like stars at night that fragments all thoughts, reason, and heart.

And Wooyoung like a sinner reaching out for redemption takes that hand and realizes it is finally warm.
