Beautiful icon, so simple but very touching. I'm glad it won. (Also great icons the other winners like the Willow ones and the Bangel ones)

I understand nothing about the technicalities of making an icon but I'm happy that there will be more.

I'm glad folks liked it sweetie! That was really an astonishingly good round. I loved the icons I submitted (the Spuffy icons were so much fun to make) and then I saw the other entries and - whoa. Rua's Willow icons and Temper's Bangel icons were definitely amoung my favorites but there were so many wonderful ones.

And I remember ten years ago I had no idea what an icon even was (I was on a Nicole Kidman fanboard, and we tended to refer to them as avatars or "avis" more often than icons. ) I had to ask someone to make me one because I had no clue about them! I still am in awe of people who do photoshop and gimp and the really detailed, advanced technical work. I'm just learning!

Oh one more art for you if you're not tired of them yet - I couldn't erase the line on this one without looking worse so I left it in:

I like the black and white old photo feeling. Usually I love more the artworks with colors both fanart and icons. Apparently I'm a sucker for shiny colorful things. XD

thanks sweetie! I did a more lavender version too, I thought this would be subtler. I guess I should put all the versions of this series in one post?

Fotoflexer (the editing suite Photobucket used to use) had a vintage photo effect I liked. I collect antique photos of women, circa 1900; I've used them as my avatars on facebook and google/gmail.

But I've also something of the crow in my - I like shiny things too! I l can't decide so I want them both! (Antique jewelry, yay!)

Maybe making a post with all the version is the best decision. You can compare them and see what people like the most. Also it's interesting to explore the "making of". And I'm also curious about the new icons, but I don't know if you can post them.

I love doing that sort of thing, the making of, or reading them by other people. Maybe with a poll?

I need to ask comlodge how to put in a photo so when someone clicks it they get the bigger version.

I'm also curious about the new icons

The ones of antique photos? I've had those for many years actually. Or do you mean the last set for slayerstillness? I want to put those up as well.

Thank you very much! Some of my antique photos were damaged in the fire, I didn't scan all of them beforehand but I did scan some of my favorites. (the girl on the right hand photo is still in my collection thank goodness.)

The slayerstillness icons were a ton of fun to make, but trying to do icons for three different challenges at the same time got a little confusing.
