Back from Faire and alive, moped and other news
Well Gina and I are back from Faire (obviously) It went well - we had nearly perfect weather for Saturday. Sunday was kind of typical Faire weather for Kansas - Hot and Windy. Definitely a smaller court this time around, but it worked for us. Even with fewer people it still seems like that was an awful lot of running around, serving folks, taking care of things. But then - that is what working the Faire is all about.
The time off after the Faire was good - I was nearly comatose until Thursday. The whole sleep-eat-sleep-some-more vacation. But I needed it. I haven’t taken any vacation or real time off since Christmas.
One distraction for part of last week and this week has been Planetside. Sony offered free access to old players for a month to showcase some of their new developments. Considering the game nearly hasn’t changed in *4 years* anything new is helpful. It was and has been kind of cool to warm some of those old reflexes up. The additions to the combat engineering and support specialist are nice - but when I compare Planetside to City of Heroes...Planetside seems kind of lame. It still has the same problems - the same imbalances - the same graphics engine. Like Sony just forgot about it for four years and now noticed that it is about dead and is trying to revive it before it dies out completely.
City of Heroes on the other hand seems to be thriving and warming up nicely. What looks to be great new stuff coming next week on the test server and probably go live the week after.
Big News is that today for the first time since I brought my moped in November, I got to ride it to work - IT WAS a BLAST. It was so very hard to go into work and not just keep zooming around town. It was harder still to come back to work after lunch. Perfect weather to just tool around.
Last but not least. I don’t talk about my job much (for some good reasons) but whats coming up with it will be odd. A trial and maybe fun. Because of the extensive renovations they are going to be doing where I work (and some lack of planning from the folks up the hill) it seems my entire floor will more-or-less be telecommuting from home...until August. Starting May 12th. So I have next week to pack everything, haul what I need home and bid adieu to the campus (aside of 1 day a week)
