Tonight I am researching the concept of rent control and cooperative housing. Rent control is illegal in Texas. Too late to read everything and write something coherent, but an interesting article will likely be forthcoming after the move.
Y.E.T. returns this afternoon at 5:00 pm in Wagner Park. We're asking people to bring food, which means I will probably end up buying tortillas, charcoal and potatoes. Possibly some tinfoil. Thank you to
i_ate_lil_nemo, Nick of the Nine Toes, for making flyers.
I am also purchasing several copies of Cunt tomorrow, and thus far have only received money from three people for reimbursement. I will blow my paycheck if I have to, because I believe this is a book that needs to be read. Feminist Pizza is also attempting to reorganize and regain a sense of identity and purpose. I hope to eventually have a reading group on feminist literature established that will be open to everyone.
I leave for the last ten days of the Kerrville Folk Festival next Friday, June 3rd, where I will hopefully find myself networking with old hippies that have lived some of the ideas I wish to try here in Lubbock, and make some other interesting contacts as well. Upon my return I will no longer be living in my parents' home (praise the Goddess) and my internet access will be limited to how often I find myself either at Tech library or pilfering the use of random laptops. None the less, I intend to turn this particular blog into my original vision of a regular, well written and researched weekly column that hopefully will evolve eventually into the website form of Negative Connotations, the underground press I have wanted for years. I have decided to abandon the name Dirt City Press after coming to understand the actual history of Dirt City. Anyone that doesn't agree with this decision is more than welcome to get up off their ass and do something productive with the name.
