Optimistic POV on Mixed Messages
a.k.a My Argument on how OT5 is still OT5
For the OT5 fans who support all 5:
Or, well, actually for my own amusement.
Now, I know that this vid and this song has been getting a lot of criticisms especially for the lyrics and choreography. I'm not going to go into the lyrics because well, whatever. It can be a message from SM to JYJ to Keep Their Head Down or it really could be just about a guy breaking up with his girlfriend. Who knows? It could be BOTH.
Well, I love this video. Except for the crazy furry suit things X__x. Hot guys in black and white, tight suits, leather and FIRE FIRE EVERYWHERE (Fire Bending!) and all the close contact touching, yup, pretty much a fav in my books. (OMG HOMIN I'D SHIP YOU GUYS SO BAD IF I WASN'T SO CONVINCED THAT YUNJAE ARE MEANT FOR EACH OTHER SO ALL 5 OF YOU GET TO BE AN OT5 SO I CAN HAVE ALL THE PAIRINGS TOGETHER XD)
I even love the choreography because I love the machoness of HoMin lording it over other lesser non-godly human beings.
However, the dance move from 1:46 to 1:48, those are some very controversial hand movements.
Ok, fine, maybe not as controversial as this(LOL) but still..
At first, I didn't really see what was wrong with the choreography because to me it looks like 3 then 5 then 2 and people were like they're subtracting 3 from the 5 and I was like "Really? Then shouldn't it be 5 then 3 then 2 or something??" But even in those time, I knew that there was something about that dance move but I just didn't know what exactly and I didn't want to jump on the bandwagon of you know, EVERYTHING'S A CONSPIRACY.
I finally get it after a while: So basically, the dance move can be interpreted as holding up 3, throwing them away(the 5 finger part) and leaving 2. Or to put it simply "We don't need 3 of you to be TVXQ."
Fine, I get it, SME wants to show them that those 3 aren't needed to be successful.
And let me cut off to another argument, I've been around fans who are like "JYJ are the talent of the group. What can HoMin do??? They don't need HoMin" or "HoMin don't need JYJ. Look at them. They're fine on their own."
UMMM DUH OF COURSE they don't need each other to be successful. These guys were the lead vocals in their own group when they were trainees. Hell, they could all be solo stars and still shine. They won't be Dong Bang Shin Ki but they'd probably still be very damn successful.
But as 5, now that is a different story. One of the things I hate about this split is that I can't hear their acapellas anymore. You rarely get an idol group these days with members that are ALL vocally strong. And I'm not even being biased about 2U, the both of them can sing really really well, better than a lot of other idols too. It's just that JaeSuMin are on a whole other level completely. Like what Junsu says, "I'm actually tall! It's just that you guys are abnormally tall that I look short!" YEAH OK JUNSU♥
Well that turned out very TVXQ-biased X__x
Anyway, I don't agree with the choreography because seriously, SME, was that totally necessary? Do you want to start even more fanwars? Blocking JYJ is not enough for you guys? Sigh... I want to say that I'm not hating on SME, but truthfully, I'm a LITTLE hatin on them. And it's not in a JYJ says SME is evil so they must be evil kinda way. And technically, since I'm HoMin biased I should be more on the HoMin says SME is NOT evil so they must not be evil side. It's more of the fact that I think SME is dealing with JYJ in a very immature way. Sigh...
But less on that and more on the video.
So, yes, basically "bla bla we don't need 3 of you bla bla 2 is enough." My eyes are like half open and half close because I don't like the implication of the choreography but omg Changmin is just so UNF.
BUT WAIT...
What about Yunho's hand?
If you watch the vid (1:46-1:48), you can see everybody doing that 3,5,2 fingers choreography. Except for Yunho. Yunho basically leaves his fingers as a fist, then the flinging 5 finger movement and then 2.
Taking it in the context that we're throwing away 3 because we don't need them, I think I can safely make the assumption that Yunho DOESN'T want to throw away 3 (Changmin maybe too, but he's in front so he has to do the SME choreography. Yunho is not so noticeable at the back)
Basically it matches with what HoMin have been saying that they're using the TVXQ name now to keep it alive until the other 3 return(or until they become 5 again?).
Or you can take is as Yunho saying SCREW YOU SM, WE'RE NOT THROWING THE OTHER 3 AWAY.
WHY IS THIS GIF SO AWESOME??? XD
And yeah, Yunho does the fist in all Why(Keep Your Head Down) performances that I could find.
Now, fine, you can be all pessimistic and skeptical and say that SME is messing up with our minds.
But I'm just happy because it shows that they haven't turn their backs on each other. And I have faith in our leader and in our boys and their OT5 love for each other.
Yeah, if I was doing the dance, I'd just be waving my palm EVERYWHERE XD
