Subterfuge Graphic Poster: Thought Process and Ramblings

Theme: Subterfuge

So... have you read Subterfuge? It's a fic by exoaffinity and omg this poster would actually be a spoiler for those who haven't read it. If you haven't, QUICK exit this page and go read it!

...Gone? Alright, let's get to it.

I've always wanted to make a fic poster thing but never actually got the motivation for it until kissuholic requested a graphic and mentioned Subterfuge. It's a Kray fic where an author falls in love with the character he writes about.

I contemplated many ways I wanted to pull off this graphic. I'm usually the type who likes to use scenes from the fic that really stood out to me. Being the dramatic person I am, I loved(and hated because omg sad feels) the scene at the end where Lay disappears from Kris's arms and Kris is left there with pages from his book burning.

But then I also loved the opening scene where Lay is musing about the sky and coffee shop romance. So I was considering coffee shops, bar, a book with writing, burning pages, a depressed man sitting alone on the floor in a room, Lay in an airport...

And then I remembered that Photoshop had a sketch filter (don't ask me where I remembered it because I got the idea where most people get their brilliant ideas...) and I thought Lay as a sketch, being written out. And so I experimented with photoshop and it was hard finding the right picture to use. I know I've been using the above Kray pic in my Kray graphics but that's because it's just so beautiful and HQ and the way they look at each other is ♥

There was a scene in the fic where the pages of the story were being burnt and the page with The Insane Author on top of it caught the attention of well, the insane author himself and so I wanted to have a burning page effect. USUALLY I'd go look for a burning page texture or something but I couldn't find one that suited me so... I learnt how to make one through photoshop. Yay, for a new effect learnt!

The background was chosen because it was swirly and it reminded me of insanity lol

Ah, the text. I finally figured out how to do those text background things. Red because my fav colour is red. Oh, and because it's so striking too. And passionate. Like love. And insanity. Do you see a theme here?

So... there goes me rambling again. I know people usually make a graphic and just leave it at that but I kinda wanted to write down what I wanted to convey I guess. Plus, it's something for future me to refer to again. Hi future me!

All in all, the graphics VERY different from what I originally envisioned it... lol
