Summary: It's nearly midnight on halloween and Gerard has decided to follow his boyfriend, Frank, to a haunted mansion that he's heard far too many stories about. For once Gerard might regret following his boyfriend.

Gerard didn't know why he was here, at this time of the night or on this day but he knew that whenever Frank says ‘I’m bored let’s do something’, that he will always follow his boyfriend wherever he goes and Frank knows he will. This time though, Gerard was seriously starting to question his choice of following tonight when Frank started leading him up the path to the old abandoned mansion at the end of their street. At eleven on Halloween of all days, instead Gerard would prefer to be snuggled up on the couch with Frank, watching horror movies all night like they've done for the past 2 years.
“Come on Frankie, do we have to go in there.” Gerard said, attempting to mask the fear in his voice. He wouldn't usually be scared about walking into random abandoned buildings, they've done it a lot since they were kids, but growing up he’d heard some stories about this place that didn't make it seem welcoming. Although, as they reached the front door it didn't look welcoming either. It was a fairly big door, about twice the height and width of Gerard himself, it was made of wood that had splintered and cracked throughout the years and within the center of the door was a door knocker. It looked like it belonged to medieval times, it was in the shape of a gargoyles head with a big metal ring dangling from its mouth. Gerard shivered and looked at Frank to see him slowly pushing the door open, grinning at him.
“Come on Gerard. All those stories were just fake.” Frank said, pushing the door open further which caused the hinges to creak and groan in protest. Frank grinned at him before quickly slipping inside, leaving Gerard outside.
“Frank, Frank! This isn't funny, come on.” Gerard whispered through the gap. He hovered around the door hoping to either see Frank emerging from the house, but he didn't Breathing in deeply, Gerard growled before heading inside the mansion. Gerard looked around the room, it was fairly big with a very high roof and there was a dim light coming from the chandelier hovering above. At the back of the room was a large staircase leading to the second floor sweeping from the middle of the room, upwards. There were a few doors on the ground floor but Gerard really didn't feel like opening any. He looked round and groaned as his eyes landed on Frank, who was attempting to open a small door at the back of the room next to the staircase.
“What are you doing?” Gerard asked quietly hoping Frank could hear him. He sighed in relief when Frank turned round and frowned at him.
“Trying to get into that room, all of them are locked.”Frank grumbled, walking away from the door to stand with Gerard who was near the bottom of the staircase. Gerard looked back up to the chandelier and frowned.
“This place still has power? Where’d you find the switch?”Gerard asked, looking to see Frank pulling at a lose string on his hoodie.
“I errr... Didn't.” Frank mumbled. “It was already on?”
“Can we get out of here? It’s freaking me out.” Gerard hissed, tugging on Frank’s sleeve. He hoped Frank would sympathise with him and allow them to leave, but alas Frank pulled away from Gerard while rolling his eyes.
“Come on Gee, we could see an actual ghost.” Frank said, bouncing up and down on the balls of his feet. Gerard couldn't help but smile slightly at his over excited boyfriend.
“Frank, there is no such thing as ghosts.” A statement that Gerard have believed for years, that was until his eyes shifted to the top of the staircase and what he saw made him freeze. Frank must have followed his eyesight because he gasped. Stood at the top was a small girl, she was no older than 6 or 7, she wore a long white dress and she was dangling a teddy bear in her right hand, while swaying slightly from side to side. But what freaked Gerard out the most was the eerie white glow that surrounded her. She locked eyes with Gerard and he shivered, it was like he couldn't look away or move, all his muscles had frozen, refusing to move. His mind was screaming for him to run but he couldn't, he just stayed in the same spot, staring. The girl then giggled, breaking eye contact and skipping away down the hall to the left.
As Gerard blinked, coming back to his senses, he noticed he was trembling. He closed his eyes and began trying to even out his breathing.
“It’s just an illusion from the lights, it’s just an illusion from the lights.” Gerard mumbled, over and over again. Trying to convince himself that he hadn't seen it.
“Let’s follow it.” Frank whispered. Gerard’s eyes snapped open and landed on the back of his boyfriend, who had just placed his foot on the second step.
“Frank, are you crazy?” Gerard hissed. Watching as his boyfriend freeze mid step and look at him, smirking.
“You said it was an illusion of the light.” Frank said, still smirking. Gerard rolled his eyes before glaring back. Frank just smiled at him and turned to put his hand on the banister, there was a five second gap before Frank let out a high pitched shriek and darted down the stairs again.
“What?”Gerard asked, eyes scanning the staircase in fear.
“Spider, fucking spider.” Frank hissed, a hand placed on his heart as he panted. Gerard froze before spinning towards Frank, fists clenched, nostrils flaring, lips set in a tight line and his eyes narrowed.
“We’re stood in a haunted mansion, near the middle of the night on fucking Halloween and you shriek at a fucking spider!” Gerard screeched. Frank looked at the ground, away from Gerard’s eyes. “We’re in this house and for all we know it could be some kind of grudge shit!”
That’s when he heard it, right behind him, the distinctive gargle of what he knew to be the grudge. He span around so fast that he tripped over his own feet and fell to the floor with a startled yelp. There was silence for a few seconds before someone burst out laughing. Gerard squinted into the darkness trying to see who it was, as the figure moved forward, he glared.
“Ray!”Frank whined behind him. “Did you really have to do that?” Gerard continued to glare as Ray tried to contain his laughter, his hair bobbing up and down.
“I’m sorry.” He panted between laughter. “I just couldn't .. help myself.” Then he burst into laughter again. Gerard continued to glare at Ray until the frizzy haired boy had calmed down.
“What are you doing here anyway?” Gerard asked, smiling when Frank held a hand out to pull him up. Ray shrugged his shoulders.
“Mikey and I got bored, so we decided to check this place out.” Ray said. Gerard blinked before looking around the room, frowning.
“Ray... Where is Mikey?” Ray blinked before turning around to look behind him.
“That, Gerard, would be a very good question.” Ray said, turning back round to face them.
“You lost my brother!” Gerard shouted, “You lost him in a haunted fucking mansion!” Ray held his hands up in defense.
“Chill, Gerard. He was right behind me before so I doubt he went far.”
“Where did you come from anyway?” Frank asked.
“From that door there.” Ray said, pointing to on of the doors on the left wall. “It wasn't very interesting, looked like a study.”
Gerard nodded before turning round to face Frank, intent on grabbing his boyfriend and dragging him home and away from this place. But he got annoyed when he saw Frank slowly moving towards the staircase.
“Frank.”Gerard hissed, glaring at his boyfriend. “What are you doing?”
Frank looked at him, blinking. “I’m following that ghost.”
“No you are not.”
“There’s a fucking ghost?” Ray asked. Gerard turned round to see him grinning and looking at Frank expectantly.
“Yeah, she went down the hallway.” Frank said, nodding towards where the girl had left.
“Awesome.”Ray said, grinning, before walking towards Frank and heading up the stairs with him. Gerard stared at them. When they reached the top of the stairs, Frank looked down at Gerard in confusion.
“What are you stood there for?” Frank asked. Gerard threw his hands into the air angrily.
“You have to be fucking kidding me, right?” Gerard growled, pointing at Frank. “We see a fucking ghost and YOU want to follow it?” Frank rolled his eyes.
“Just an illusion of the light, remember? Now come on, if we look around we’ll found Mikey.” As Gerard watched them turn and head down the corridor he felt the need to run out the door and just leave them there. But, of course, Gerard wasn't like that. He couldn't just leave his boyfriend, brother and best friend to fend for themselves in a creepy old mansion with a weird ghost girl wandering around. No he couldn't, which was why he was following them, very reluctantly. When he reached the top of the stairs and peered down the corridor he saw them trying to open doors, but every one of them refused to budge. Rolling his eyes Gerard turned to the door in front of him and turned the handle. To his surprise it clicked open and slowly allowed Gerard to push it to revel a room. He blinked in surprised before looking down the corridor at Frank and Ray.
“Hey this door is open.” He shouted, waiting for Frank and Ray to acknowledge what he said before he stepped into the room. It was slightly dark, the only light source in the room was a dimly lit lamp. There was a large double bed resting against the wall opposite the door and behind the open door was a bookcase. There was a desk next to the bed and on the desk was a piece of paper. Intrigued by it, Gerard moved away from the door to look at it. Picking it up, he stared in confusion at the words.
‘Play with me’
He jumped in shock as he heard the door bang shut behind him. Spinning around he scanned the room to see no one was inside.
“Frank?” He whispered. Trembling slightly, he moved towards the closed door and tugged on the handle, but it wouldn't budge.
“Frank!” He shouted, pulling harder on the door handle in a desperate hope that it would open.
“Gerard?” Frank shouted, from the other side of the door. “Gerard, open the door.”
“I can’t, fucking, open the door!” Gerard shouted, frantically pulling at the door.
“Play with me Gerard.”
Gerard froze, he felt colder, so much colder. Gulping, he turned round to see the little girl from before standing in the middle of the room, surrounded by toys that weren't there before. She was smiling slightly, still swaying from side to side with the teddy clutched in her hand. The same eerie glow surrounding her.
“Please play with me Gerard”
Gerard stared, wide eyed, at the girl in front of him before slowly backing up. He could faintly hear the frantic bangs and shouts of Frank and Ray at the door, but he ignored them, his full attention on the little girl. When she spoke, her lips didn't move, they stayed just smiling at him. He trembled as he saw the girl take a step towards him.
“Play with me Gerard, play with me”
Gerard shook his head, hoping he was imagining this. There was no way there was a little girl stood in front of him. He wanted to ask her two questions, one was how the fuck did she know his name and the second was what the hell would they play. Hide and seek? Because Gerard knew he wouldn't be able to win that fucking game. The girl giggled and shook her head at him as though she’d read his mind. He continued stepping back until his back hit the bookshelf.
“Fuck!”He hissed, eyes locked on the girl as panic gripped him. One moment the girl was smiling sweetly at him, the next she was glaring, pure hate could be seen in her eyes.
“I only wanted to play Gerard”
He flinched as he heard the venom in her voice. He watched in shock as she reached toward the statue next to her and then pushed it forwards. Gerard heard a loud click followed by the metallic thud of chains and cogs before letting out a startled yelp as he was lifted off the ground. Now, if Gerard was in an episode of Scooby Doo he would have totally understood that bookcases in scary haunted mansions meant secret passages. But he wasn't in Scooby Doo, yet here he was being lifted off his feet as the bookcase spun around and dumped him awkwardly on the floor behind it.
Groaning he lifted himself up and looked around. It was dark, far too dark to actually see anything. Grumbling he pulled his phone out his jeans pocket and frowned as he noticed he had no signal. He continued to stare at his phone before grinning as he realised his phone had a light. Fumbling through the files of his phone he made a quiet whooping sound before activating the light, grinning again as a bright light appeared from the back.
Lifting up his phone he studied the area around him. It was a small passage made out of stone, only wide enough to fit one person and the ceiling was low, making Gerard bend down slightly. He awkwardly turned round to study the bookcase and reached forward to remove one of the books, only to find them fake. Gerard rolled his eyes, ‘Typical’. Turning back around, he reluctantly began walking down the tight passage. After a short walk he sighed in relief as he came across an old door, which was battered and cracked, showing light through from the room on the other side.
Gerard grinned, grabbing hold of the handle and wrenching the door open. Only to look round the room in horror before violently throwing up.

“Damn it Gerard, open the door.” Frank pleaded, still pounding on the door. He was getting desperate. To be honest he hadn't heard Gerard utter a single word for at least 5 minutes. “Gerard, say something!”
“What the hell is all this shouting about?” Someone grumbled. Frank looked up in surprise to see Mikey heading down the corridor, a frown on his face.
“Gerard’s locked in this room.” Ray said, pointing to the door Frank was in front of. “He said it was open and walked into it. Just as we were heading towards it, the door slammed shut and locked. We can’t open it.” Frank shifted uncomfortably as Mikey studied them for a few seconds.
“Are you telling me, you allowed Gerard to walk into a room, by himself?” Mikey ask, head cocked to the side.
Frank nibbled on his bottom lip nervously. “Yes, we did.” Mikey continued to watch them before he shook his head and moved towards Frank.
“You’re idiots.” Mikey said, gently pushing Frank out the way to attempt to open the door. Frank rolled his eyes. After several attempts to open the door Mikey stared at it for a few seconds before lifting his right leg up and kicking it. Without much force the door swung open, banging against the wall. Mikey turned round and grinned at Frank and Ray.
“That worked.” Mikey said smugly before walking into the room. “Gerard?”
Frank followed his boyfriend’s brother into the room anxiously. He looked around, trying to see any sign of his boyfriend. He began to panic when he couldn't see Gerard at all. Frowning he watched as Mikey walked towards a desk and pick up a piece of paper.
“It just says play with me.” Mikey said, frowning and showing Frank the paper. Frank studied the words for a few seconds before shaking his head and scanning the room one last time.
“This just gets freakier and freakier.” Frank said, shivering as the cold air nipped at his skin.
“You’re telling me.” Ray said, poking his head through the door and frowning. “Come on, we need to find Gerard. He’s definitely not in here.”
“But where could he be?” Frank whined hysterically, looking back and forth between Mikey and Ray. “He walked into this room and now he’s not here!”
Mikey sighed. “I don’t know, but I’d like to find him and get out of here. This place gives me the creeps.”

Gerard violently trembled as he retched one more time before pulling himself up onto shaky legs by gripping the door frame. He clenched his eyes shut, willing away the sting of the tears collecting at the corner of his eyes. He breathed in deeply, gagging on the smell of rotting flesh, before opening his eyes and looking round the room again. His eye’s stopped on the back wall before he involuntarily retched again. Suspended on the back wall was a body, it was of a man no older than 25, there was a gaping hole from the bottom of his neck to the waistband of the man’s jeans, which were soaked in blood. Around the man, on the shelves, were jars filled with a green tinted liquid with objects floating inside them.
Gerard turned away, furiously wiping away the tears that were rolling down his face. Hell he’d only come out tonight because of his boyfriend, he hadn't expected to be locked in a room with a dead body. Letting out a shaky breath he pushed himself from the door frame and headed towards the other door, near the body, but growled in frustration as he discovered it was locked. He lent his forehead against the door and tried to think of what else he could do.
“Gerard! You came to play!”
He froze, his mouth slack, eyes wide and his hand slowly slipped from its grip on the door handle. This could not be happening. He could not actually be trapped in a room, with a dead guy and the freaky ghost child. He had to be dreaming, maybe even hallucinating from one of Frank’s special homemade cocktails. Gulping audibly he turned around to find the girl stood behind him, a grin on her features and the teddy held tightly to her chest.
“I’m so happy. You can help me put my toy back together. “
Gerard cringed as the girl pointed towards the dead body hanging from the wall. She looked back at him her eyes wide and sad, a slight tremble to her bottom lip.
“He broke a few weeks ago. Stopped screaming. I really don’t understand why.”
He watched as she grinned again before twirling around and skipping towards the jars. She reached up and stroke one of them.
“We can put him back together with these pieces I removed.”
Gerard couldn't help but retch again as he realised what those jars contained. Organs, the man had been harvested of his organs while still alive. Breathing in again, he couldn't help but turn around and empty the rest of his stomach. This was too much to take in.
“Awww is my pet ill?”
He flinched as he realised the girl was beside him, he felt a line of icy water trickle down his back and, as he looked round, he discovered it was the ghost stroking a hand down his back. She blinked at Gerard a few times before smiling and clapping her hands together, no sound came from them though.
“Playing with me will take your mind off it though”
Trembling in fear, Gerard turned back towards the door and tugged as hard as he could, desperately hoping to escape the room.
“Come on Gerard, it’ll be like a huge jigsaw puzzle!”
In one final, desperate attempt Gerard kicked the door with all his strength, howling in triumph when the hinges snapped and the door fell to the ground. Without looking back, Gerard ran out the room running wherever his instincts told him was the safest way. Not looking back, even when he heard an inhuman screech from the room he abandoned, which sounded awfully like his name. He ran, ignoring the burning pain in his legs as he pushed them to move faster than he’d ever ran before. Not even stopping when he spotted a door in front of him. Instead he ran at the door full speed throwing himself against it, shoulder first. He felt himself fall with the door as the hinges gave way and it collapsed. He landed with a painful thud and winced as pain shot through his body.
He coughed loudly, wincing at the burning pain in his lungs as they cried with desperate need for oxygen. He lay there for a few seconds, on his back as he calmed himself down and controlled his erratic breathing. Steadily, he turned himself round onto his hands and knees before pulling himself to his feet and looking around. He was in the entrance room again, the chandelier was still emitting a dull light on the room. After a few seconds he realised he had just come out of the room that Frank had been trying to get into earlier on.
“Frank? Ray? Mikey?” Gerard shouted, moving further into the room and away from the staircase. “I’d really like to get out of here!” He waited a few minutes for a reply but was only met with silence. He sucked his bottom lip in between his teeth before slowly heading towards the door. He was going outside, he’d go out there and try to ring one of the guys to inform them he was safely away from this hell house. But just as he opened the door he heard an inhuman screech behind him and he froze.
“Shit!”Gerard cursed. Spinning around to see the ghost girl at the bottom of the stairs, there were red lines trickling down her cheeks as though she was crying, crying blood to be exact. Gerard shook his head and groaned. He really wanted to just go to bed. He decided that this night couldn't get any worse.
“I just wanted you to fix my toy!”
With one more glance at the girl, who had the head of her teddy bear in one hand and the rest of the body in the other as though she’d ripped it apart in frustration, Gerard spun round to leave but just as he was about to run through the doors they slammed shut and he heard a loud click signalling they were locked. He mentally slapped himself for thinking it couldn't get any worse because, clearly, being locked in a haunted house with a psychopathic ghost child was definitely worse. Spinning round his eyes widened as he realised the ghost had moved closer and was now stood in the middle of the room.
“Why won’t you play with me? Am I not good enough for you?”
Gerard flinched as the girl stalked towards him, the teddy bear laid forgotten in the middle of the room. Gerard decided if he got out of this situation he was never going near any Ouija boards, haunted mansions or playing one man hide-and-seek. After tonight he was leaving all paranormal activity alone. Especially if they involved a small ghost girl who somehow knew his name. Or children for that matter. He was never having children, ever. He’d rather let Frank have all the puppies he desired than a child.
He moved backwards, trying to put as much distance between him and the ghost as possible but whimpered when he felt his back slam into the door. He ignored the desire to slide down the door, curl up into a ball and except his fate. Instead he looked round the room, frantically trying to find some sort of escape.
“Gerard!”
Gerard looked up in surprise and cried out in relief as he saw Frank, Ray and Mikey at the top of the stairs all looking down in horror at the ghost. As Gerard looked back towards the girl his eyes widened in horror as the ghosts, once pearly white dress, was now covered in splashes and spots of blood. He noticed the ghost was looking up in annoyance and took the opportunity to dodge to the left and attempt to open the door closest to him.
“Come on you stupid fucking thing!” Gerard shouted in frustration, as yet another door refused to budge. He spun round as he heard three pairs of feet thunder down the stairs and squeaked in surprise as he saw the ghost glide over to him.
“Why the fuck am I being chased by a fucking ghost!” Gerard screeched as he ducked out the way and sprinted to the opposite side of the room, watching as Ray and Mikey attempted to open the door he’d just abandoned. He scanned the room and found Frank stood at the bottom of the stairs, bouncing on his feet as though he wanted to help his boyfriend. Gerard wanted to shout at him to help, but what would be the point in that? Unless Frank was somehow Dr. Peter Venkman then he hardly doubted his boyfriend could actually do anything. Instead Gerard just shrieked in fear as the ghost made a grab at him before sprinting off towards his boyfriend. For a ghost, it was pretty useless.
Well that was what Gerard thought before the door he’d previously broken was flying towards him. He couldn't help but stand frozen to the spot. Yeah, he was never underestimating the paranormal again, even if they are in the form of an adorable puppy. The next thing Gerard knew something knocked into him and he was sent to the floor, away from the door.
“Jesus Gerard.”Frank grumbled above him. “Next time you see a door heading your way, move!”Gerard growled and pushed Frank off him before standing up.
“You try escape from a psychopathic ghost all night and then try to move when that happens.” Gerard growled. Suddenly they heard a loud bang and a cry of triumph as Mikey and Ray opened the door.
“You two, get here.” Mikey shouted, Gerard spun around to see him grinning. “There’s a window in here.”
Gerard grinned back at his brother, grabbed his boyfriends hand and sprinted towards the door, following Mikey inside. He watched as Ray picked up a chair and threw it at the window, which effectively smashed. He couldn't help but sigh in relief as Ray jumped through the window before helping Mikey through. He felt Frank push him towards the window from behind.
“Go, you go first.” Frank said, pushing him again. Growling in frustration, Gerard grabbed his boyfriends arm and pushed him through the window.
“See it wasn't that hard was it.” Gerard said smirking. He watched as Frank rolled his eyes and offered his hand for him to take. Smiling gratefully he reached out and allowed Frank to help him through. Just as he was about to pull his right leg through the window, his left leg helping him balance on the glass covered window, he felt something grab his jeans and pulling him back. Effectively making him trip, falling forwards and impale his leg, just above the knee, on the glass. Gerard bit back the yell of pain as he was tugged backwards, Frank desperately holding onto his hand to pull him out. Yeah, Gerard was getting sick of this.
The next time Gerard couldn't hold back his pain filled yell as the furious tug of war match between the ghost girl and Frank, who was now joined by Mikey and Ray, led his leg to be impaled on the glass again.
“Get off!” Gerard shouted, furiously kicking his leg out and wincing as it scrapped on the glass. After one power jerk, the hands left his jeans and he was pulled forwards landing in a heap on Frank, Mikey and Ray. He groaned as he stood up and felt the pain from his injured leg shoot through him.
“Shit. I’m never going in there again.” Frank exclaimed, looking at the house in fear. Gerard growled and slapped Frank around the back of the head before limping down the path, away from the house. Just as Gerard reached the edge of the path, Frank, Mikey and Ray following him, he shivered as he heard the inhuman screech of his name again.
