By owl, to Percy Weasley.

All right, Percy? Don't know if anyone else has written to you, but everyone's seen about Lucius Malfoy making Minister. Are you all right? Everyone's up in arms about it, I don't mind telling you, and you ought to get out now, before you see something he doesn't want you to. Are your letters getting checked? I bet they ( Read more... )

Well somebody should storm Hogwarts

Just remember, you did ask.

Nevermind using the Quibbler to get messages out to people. We have the internet and there's no reason why we can't use other muggle tools to get our word out. Alright, so no phellytones or computers, but muggles have newspapers too so they must know how to print them. We hire muggles to print pamphlets or flyers or newspapers, however it is that they do it. The Ministry won't know, can't know, that they're being printed at all until they show up in the wizarding world. We should use the same Owl Post everyone else uses, that way the Ministry will have to divide their time and resources to inspecting owls too if they want to shut us up, and we can send them out to every magical familyon Hogwarts' master list. (Thank you Hermione for that copy of Hogwarts: A History.) Of course it will cost money (can we take subscriptions?) and it may break the laws about interactions with muggles... as if the Ministry needs anymore reason to shut down a paper that tells the truth.

We might be able to use a muggle radio equipment too, mightn't we? Dad was saying something about satlights - do you think we could afford one of our own?

Furthermore, we should find a way to incite the Goblins at Gringotts to rebel against the Ministry. You've got to admit, the Ministry's new restrictions on who can and can't buy or sell things has put a damper on the economy - just look at Fred and George. And from what I hear Diagon is a ghost town, right? Gringotts can't make money if no one is keeping their money there or asking for loans, and the Goblins get very surly when they aren't making money. It can't take much to get them to rebel, just look at history. The Ministry can't pay people to do their dirty work if they haven't got any money, can they, and just like with the Owl Post it will split their resources which can only be good for us.

As for the DA, maybe we should try contacting students from Durmstrang and Beauxbatons and raising awareness for the situation over here. If there's one thing I've learned as a prefect, it's that young people will get excited about almost anything. If the schools abroad start making noise, maybe their parents and teachers will listen, and we'll win some new allies. The Triwizard Tournament was supposed to be this year, maybe we can catapult off of that? Even if it doesn't work, it will make the Ministry concentrate on mollifying foreign Ministries... you get the drift by now, I think.

And I was thinking we should positively inundate the Ministry with scatching letters of dissatisfaction, with false names if need be. The Ministry's employees must think they are doing what's best, but what if we convinced them otherwise? Maybe we can take the Ministry's power right out from underneath them by relieving them of the very people who make up the Ministry. They're nothing without their manpower. We can even use Percy if needed

And, of course, we should be learning new spells and tactics as well, like you said. But maybe more importantly, we should be thinking up new tactics, because these are the Death Eaters we're talking about and all the training in the world won't be good enough if we can't catch them off guard. They will be using every trick in the book, and we should be doing the same. Maybe we can make a splinter bomb with wood from the trees around here, or nettle bombs, those things sting terribly!

Of course, a lot of this would need the cooperation of the Order, but imagine the ideas you'd get if you asked everyone in the DA this question, not just me...
