A Snowy new start
Fitting that today I wake up to a couple of inches of snow covering the ground, covering everything that this year has brought to this point. It's a new start outside today too.
Today is December 1, 2006. Today I became a full police officer with the city. No more probationary period for me! It's a new start and I can see the road stretched out in front of me - no marks on it yet. Behind me I can see where I came from. I can see the footprints of people like JP, Jen, the Lt, Cowboy, Koval and others who have made it possible for me to get to this point. Now I take that first step forward, but I won't be alone - for the people that have gotten me this far still stroll beside me, but now they do it as peers and co-workers - not just instructors.
