theatrical_muse prompt 246: Olympics
If you could be in the Olympics (summer or winter), what event/sport would you want to do most? Why?
My obvious answer to this question would be "The science competition," which, of course, is not included in the Olympics. A pity. I do not know if there is a chess tournament, I may be passingly adequate at that since I would of course cheat and read the other player's mind in order to win, and I expect my Victorian gentleman sensibilities suggest I would be good at fencing.
I am not, in point of fact--I am a bit too tall to fence properly. I attempted it as a mortal, but I was dreadful at any sort of sport, if you wish to know the truth. Additionally, I am not the sort of chap one imagines being gifted at team sports. I prefer to do things myself unless I can convince others to do them for me.
That being said, I would likely be able to place in the sparring/fighting events, if they have those. (All we seem to watch in my house is men's swimming. I believe I know why.) Rachel and I spar quite often (though, ah, the way those matches end would not likely be suitable for television), and I was required to fight often in Apocalypse's service. Often with his other soldiers, and very often for the right to continually live.
Perhaps I would fall back into old habits and kill my opponent. Likely that would not be television-friendly, either. Finally, I am quite strong and it would likely not be a fair fight unless it was some sort of mutant/enhanced-human Olympic games? Perhaps if Magneto ever succeeds in taking the world over, he shall implement something similar, and I shall enter that.
For now, I suppose it would have to be chess.
