holy overreactions, Batman!
...dude. What is up with scans_daily? (Yeah, yeah, I know. This, for the record, *is* a rhetorical question.)
But. Okay, when I see the description on this post and sixty-odd comments, I expect tentacle porn or something. Not (fairly innocuous, imho, although clearly I am in the minority here, so take that with a grain of salt) naked watercolors of Batman and Robin. Mind that as such, there are (gasp) penises present. OH NOES. Not really worksafe.
Okay, they're not the *best* drawings in the world (and dude, watercolor is hard). And I can see an objection to Batman/Robin anyway- even though a) scans_daily jokes about it all the time and b) Robin is clearly at least in his late teens here.
But I'm kind of surprised at the sheer *wave* of OMG MY EYES I AM SCARRED FOR LIFE!!!! I mean, hell, I'm a lesbian and I don't freak out at penises this much. Christ. (Granted, having taken lifedrawing classes, I may have gotten used to seeing men's genitals as not that big a deal. Meh.)
I saw these awhile ago- meant to link to them, actually- and I thought they were pretty funny, and kind of sweet. A bit odd, but more because they were actually going in a gallery. Heh. And it's not like messing around with archetypes is a strange practice in art. It's taking Batman and Robin- who are *symbols* as well as characters- and shifting them to mean something different. Which- *gasp*- people do in art.
Not that weird, you guys.
(I say more power to the guy. If I could get paid to draw gay naked superheroes and call it art, I would be all over that shit.)
