(If the bad guy's who I think it is in this ep, I'm going to be slightly put off. Didn't they do that one in BTAS?)

Never noticed it before, but god, yes. Colors and... things with shadows and stuff (damn, I'm so not used to think in visual terms). The red sky vs. noir city dichotomy, I think, describes very well the overall difference between both series. It's cool how they reflected in those visual cues fundamental decisions about the nature of the universe, characters and plotline.

Thanks a lot for yet another way of looking at and thinking about these things!

I always wonder if my late-night rambling about art stuff makes any sense to people, so I'm glad you got something out of it. Heh. I really do love color so damn much. It has such a powerful influence over how we feel about things, even if we're not aware of it. Alas, it seems like a lot of people in cartoons and comics don't take this into account, and just go for the "Ooh, shiny!" effect. The Batman toons, on the other hand, use it *so* well, and it makes me a very happy art geek.
