Argh, Small Potatoes. DNW. It annoys me that the writing in this episode is actually pretty funny at points, but gaaaaaaahhh, the plot. Haaate. My immediate dislike for this episode was compounded by
reading this review.
My brain basically exploded at
Darin Morgan gave us an endearing Eddie, a Faux Mulder who is, in many ways, a much humbler, sweeter, and more appealing man than the real Fox Mulder. He may not be a world-beater, but he's a nicer guy.
asdfsdgajdg he is a serial rapist oh my god. The fact that the rapes weren't physically violent doesn't make it less rape. This makes him by any definition not a nice guy, and certainly not nicer than Mulder who has his problems but that is not one of them. I will take self-absorption over rape any day, kthx.
Also on a narrative level, it bothers me that we don't see Mulder escaping from the basement.
On the bright side, my little brother totally gets it and says "I just want to hit this guy [Eddie] so many times." <3
