They've come to an agreement, of sorts. It seems to be the best solution.
It had seemed like a better idea when they were drunk. Even if it had made him a bit angry, possibly offended. He's still angry.
But he doesn't know what else to do. He doesn't want this to end and if he's not careful-
He shakes the thoughts from his head, suddenly realizing they've arrived at Rayne's apartment. Refusing to look at the man beside him, he directs his attention to the door. They can hear the muted thumps of Rayne training inside, and he wonders in a sadistic sort of way if this will work in their favor.
Angilo doesn't like this. He doesn't like it at all, but he can't see another way.
The idea that Rayne has moved on doesn't even enter his head. What they had, what they still have, damnit, there's no moving on from that. And whatever Rayne sees in Dan (and honestly, what does Rayne see in him?), it's only temporary; and Angilo figures that if he can weather this storm, then it will just prove to Rayne what Angilo has known all along. That this is fate.
Sounds like Rayne is working the heavy bag, and Angilo can imagine it; all that wiry strength, the sleek lines of his back, his shoulders, and maybe he has to stop and toss his sweat-soaked hair back, and yeah...
Dan is staring at the door uselessly. How the hell did he even end up with someone like Rayne? With a sidelong glare at the man beside him, Angilo raises his fist and knocks.
Dan couldn't help but admire the small glimpse of Rayne's lean body he could see through the crack in the door. If they were alone, he'd shove the door open and pull Rayne to him and kiss those frowning lips hard, until neither of them could think of anything else.
Angilo's presence roots him to the spot. He's had a hard enough time admitting to what was going on as it is. He doesn't really look forward to having someone actually witness it.
Still, he knows they have to solve this somehow. He clears his throat, awkwardly, and gestures between himself and Angilo. "We...we've been talking," he says, hoping that the other man will explain it better.
Angilo somehow suppresses the urge to sigh heavily at Dan's awkwardness. The fact that he's looking at Rayne, eyes bright with anger, bare torso glistening with sweat, and Angilo remembers how he tastes... it helps a little.
"Yeah," he agrees. "And we're done fighting. It isn't going to get any of us what we want."
But, damnit, his life in Nautilus is solitary enough as it is. And he values both of them. Really, really a lot.
Whether they actually deserve it or not is another matter entirely.
...they're both looking at him. The way they tend to look at him.
Fuck.
With a baleful look at both, Rayne turns away, kicking the door open with his heel, and heading deeper into the apartment. It's as much of an invitation as they're gonna get.
Dan enters and follows Rayne as closely as he dares to with Angilo there. He can't deny the magnetic pull he's developed with the man before him. But he's able to resist it with Angilo apparently experiencing the same thing only inches away.
He really wishes Angilo would've explained this, but apparently it's fallen to him, "We think...we think it'd be best if we both...shared." He's not sure how to put this without using the words he'd been avoiding when it was just Rayne and him.
Where his eyes had been as tightly locked with Rayne's as he could (since Rayne's attentions were obviously halved), now they fell to the floor, trying to hide the disappointment and shame he felt.
"It's not right of us, either of us, to make you choose," Angilo begins, looking briefly towards Dan before crossing closer to Rayne. It would be so easy to reach his hand up, slide his palm up Rayne's spine and pull him in, but there has to be some kind of understanding first.
Besides, it's not really a choice.
"And there's no reason," Angilo continues, "that you should have to. Not when we've agreed to play nicely."
Rayne's breath feels a little short. Especially with Angilo getting closer, not farther away. He glances up to Angilo -
- Christ, it took planets to come between us before -
- and knows that he doesn't really stand a chance. Not against either of them. And definitely not against both.
"Okay," says Rayne, "I'm not - I don't split into two, and I'm sure as hell not going to be argued over like some trinket you can't cut in half, so you're going to have to be a little more specific than that."
Dan watches as Angilo approaches Rayne. The electricity between the two of them is mesmerizing. He would never have thought he'd be this interested in simply watching this sort of thing. He's almost forgotten his jealousy when Angilo speaks to him, asking him to join.
"Yes," he hisses intensely, realizing he's been holding his breath.
Dan steps forward and circles around Rayne, slowly. He isn't sure what he wants to do, not at first. He presses his fingertips gently against the base of Rayne's neck, then, cautiously, drags them down to the small of his back. As he does, he watches his lover intently, hoping for a positive reaction in this situation that's alien and familiar all at once.
And that's Angilo. That's just like Angilo, and, to avoid it, to hide anything he can hide at all, Rayne's eyes flick to Dan.
Dan is watching.
Rayne freezes, as Dan moves around behind him. A little, soft inhale, as Dan's fingers trace down his spine, chased by goosebumps - humiliatingly visible goosebumps, as Rayne is half-unclothed.
They're both --
"Okay," says Rayne, "wait. This is - you just -" Okay, deep breath. "This could go very badly," he says.
Rayne gasps, just softly, at the touch of Dan's hands to his back and, huh. Maybe he isn't so helpless after all.
Rayne, on the other hand...
"It could," Angilo admits, leaning into the curve of Rayne's neck and breathing in; scenting him. Angilo's mouth waters. God, it's going to be so good, touching Rayne again, tasting him, breaking him down; and even if Angilo has to share that, it'll be worth it.
"Or it could be better than any of us are expecting," Angilo's lips are so, so close to Rayne's skin, but he's not touching, not yet. "If you'll play nice with us."
Even as he's resisting, Rayne can't hide their attention is affecting him. That slight gasp- it's enough. Dan knows they're on the right track.
Even if he's absolutely right that this could go badly. Even if this makes everything fall apart and neither of them get to be with him or Rayne chooses Angilo, he'd hate himself more for not trying.
And he's already too turned on to really think straight about the pros and cons.
He comes closer, bringing his arms around Rayne's middle and curling his hands around either side of him. His cheek comes to rest against Rayne's and it is this action that screams out as being too affectionate and too personal and too much and he can hear something in him telling him to protect himself and pull away. But the rest of him is coming alive with the thrill of how wrong it all is, and instead he just takes a shaky breath and closes his eyes.
Angilo's lips are an instant away from touching his neck on one side; Dan's cheek is pressed against his on the other, and Rayne is trapped in the middle. Dan is warm, behind him, in contrast to the cool temperature Rayne always keeps his apartment at. And he can just feel Angilo's breath, on his neck --
He's wavering badly, now. Enough so that he can't think of anything to say, in protest.
His hand drifts down to cover Dan's, fingers slipping between Dan's fingers. Being confronted with the desire of both of them, at once - it's almost too much.
In Angilo's estimation, Dan is being awfully possessive, awfully intimate with the way he wraps around Rayne; and even though Angilo realizes that that's the whole point of this, he can't help bristling.
He leans in further, dragging just the tip of his tongue up the tendon in Rayne's neck, a tease, but oh... it's so fucking hard to keep from flattening it out and licking him for real, the taste of Rayne's sweat is making Angilo's head swim.
"So what's it gonna be?" Angilo whispers, lips brushing against Rayne's ear as he talks. "We want to make you feel so good, Derek, if you let us."
It had seemed like a better idea when they were drunk. Even if it had made him a bit angry, possibly offended. He's still angry.

God, what is wrong with him?

Angry.
"Oh, hell no," says Rayne. "Go away."

"I don't know if I can be more specific." Angilo says. "Not with words, anyway."
He does reach out then, tracing fingertips down the line of Rayne's throat, stepping into Rayne's space with unmistakable intent.
"But we can show you. Isn't that right, Dan?"

Better to go slow, he thinks.
