BlahDVD -- Good news!

Nov 01, 2010 18:41

So awhile back, I left a reply on this post in the community re: pre-ordering Last Window. At the time, due to region/export restrictions, most believed Play Asia to be the one and only option.

HOWEVER, I am happy to report that BlahDVD came through for me, and for a good 20USD cheaper than Play Asia.
NOTE: I must mention that I cancelled my pre-order initially due to personal financial reasons, but just on October the 21st I gave it a go, and just about 10 days later, it was sitting in my mailbox! I only mention this so that you don't think it took them more than a month to get the game to me - not the issue at all!

As they bill in £ (pound sterling) as opposed to your local currency, you may wish to check the exchange rate via xe.com or the like, but using a Capital One* card (they don't charge any currency conversion fees, and their bank rate is always fair, imo) as of October the 23rd, I paid only $37.99 for this game!! $37.99!! I paid no VAT, and the shipping was a mere £1.98!

*ETA - For cards that charge a conversion/foreign transaction fee, I've never seen or heard of a more than 5% fee. All in all, while inconvenient, and a misfortune if you're travelling overseas where you'll be using your card a lot, for one small-ish transaction, it shouldn't be a deal-breaker. As for exchange rates tend to ironically be best through the banks.

In case some of you might be thinking it's too good to be true, I've taken a few shots of the packaging/unwrapping.

Another thing worth noting is whether your country charges customs/tariffs on imports. The full value of the game is listed on the customs form, so if this would be an issue for you, this may not be the most viable option. Luckily, here in the US (for now...) we're not burdened with these sorts of things.

I've yet to play, but I did fire up the game just to make sure everything seemed to be working right -- VERY EXCITED! With the holidays coming up, please consider picking this up! If you can't spring the less than $40, pass the link on to someone who might be stumped where you're concerned for gift-giving. ;)

Hope everyone's enjoying the game!!
