THAILAND
Oh happy day.
So yes, I'm in Thailand. Not only am I in Thailand, I'm on Koh Tao, which means I am on some little island somewhere in the gulf the Mekong dumps into, whatever it's called. This means scuba diving.
Sure I'm over budget, and sure I'm tired as hell, and sure I'm sunburnt too, but this is SO WORTH IT.
Today alone has seen a shark, a hawksbill turtle, a porcupine fish, tons of triggerfish (one bit me on the fin), a jellyfish, and a bunch of other exciting stuff I can't remember right off the top of my head. Less 'exciting stuff' includes corals, four species of sea cucumber, a species of shrimp that co-habits with a species of goby, angelfish and butterfly fish -- it seems many species are mates-for-life, since you almost always see them in pairs -- parrot fish with neon colors, wrasses, damsels, anemone fish and their attendant anemones -- as well as actual clownfish, like in that Nemo movie -- crown-of-thorns starfish, and uh, more stuff. I might remember tomorrow, since I have four more dives lined up.
Mom, if Mastercard calls wondering why I'm in Thailand, tell them it's okay. Also tell me if they decide to cancel it outright or something.
