Today has been very odd. I began the day by washing the entire front porch with a mixture of bleach, water, and some other random household cleaner that will probably give me cancer, cause my hair to fall out, or make me unable to have children. My hands felt very funny afterwords - kinda leathery - but I don't think it's contagious.
Later I went to play some volleyball with friends, and, of course, before we even begin a real game, I manage to hurt myself. I was retrieving a ball from the parking lot and, in a glorious moment of awkwardness, I somehow stepped on the curb and bent half of my toenail back. It wasn't serious or anything, but it started bleeding a pretty good amount. Thankfully, a couple of my friends were prepared for such a crisis. They keep first aid kits in their cars, which I now think is absolutely brilliant, and they helped me bandage my toe up. I couldn't keep playing, but overall it wasn't a big deal. I got home, showered, and went to dinner with some classmates. We went to see one of our friends play in a jazz band at French Quarter Cafe, and then drove around in circles for a while. It was fun, and my toe wasn't terribly painful. Until now. I got home, and it started throbbing. I can't sleep, and every now and then pain shoots up my leg and my back arches, my jaw locks up, and my fists clench. I feel like a pussy. I mean, after all, it's only my toe.
Maybe I'm being selected against . . . . .
