Well, the time's come for us to lose a member of our little, crazy family. Our recently adopted Nanday Conure, Avenger, has been in breeding mode for a few months now, and life with her is nearly unbearable. Aside from screaming more, which is expected with a bird her size, she's been biting the fuck out of me. Saturday she laid into my fingers for 5 broken-skin bites, and today, the first time she's been out since then, she laid into my finger again, all for no apparent reason. She wants me to mate with her, I can tell that from her putting her back against me, and sticking her tail in the air, and pressing her butt against me, but we can't have that anymore. Fortunately, the woman who owns A Parrots Cove offered to take her off our hands, because she just can't leave us with a bird she sold us that went crazy on us. She's going to try to put Avenger with a couple of her Conures, maybe another Nanday, or a Sun, and hopefully she will produce some hell-spawn, in which case, Andrea, Parrots Cove lady, said she'd give us a baby.
That's been the problem with Avenger from the get-go. We got her second-hand, and she practically chose us in the store, but she got into breeding mode and went fucking crazy. My fingers can't take anymore, especially if I want to keep up with my job and practice schedule. I hate sounding like an asshole doctor "These hands are sooooo capable," but I can't do my job without my fingers. I have to play guitar 5 days a week, or I'm in the street. So, we're going to head out soon to re-home Avenger.
