a crn is like the course number, when you go to the site above and look at the classes u wanna register in (it's easier to register online either at home or at the school because the course book the times get changed and sometimes they dont let u know until 2-3 days after classes started which isnt a great first impression) anyways.. yeah it's the crn number, i believe it's 4 digits like 0234 say is a math class u want, and u copy and paste that into the little boxes under the register part... i can explain it much more when u get ur banner id number and login cause i can give u step by step instructions or.. you can go to the school and go to the registar office-- theres this spanish guy in there his desk is the first one to the right, he's really friendly and helpful.. well he can show u the first time on the pc's they have there so u can do it there then next semester you'll know how to do it at home.. okay if your there for history then make an appt at the gudiance/counseler and she'll give you a paper with all the classes u need to take over the next couple of years to complete your degree, it'll give you somewhere to start.. they have a "budget plan" if you go to the school (by the way you pay and stuff basically at new haven, they sometimes send you to north haven, but payments are better off if they are made at the long wharf) but anyways yeah go to the school, the payment office which is right across from the bookstore when you first walk in the main door take a left down that hall and just walk (you'll see it..) well if you get a budget plan u pay a little at a time by october, like 100 here, 200 there..until it's paid, books you pay when you buy them, look online if you can for the books you'll need (get a list from the bookstore when you have your schedule..) and if you think they are priced good get them, but if you want to sell em back you have to buy them from the school & you dont always get so much money back at the end of the semester, only sucky part.. you need a placement test in the begining of the semester by then, this summer go take it because you cant take classes without it, they dont want u wasting ur time at a low level class if u can place higher get it, so make that appt- it only takes a 1/2 hour or so.. if it's a non-degree program i recommend going for your general studies, it's an "associate in science" degree, with that you can transfer to ANY credited college in CT, they have to take your degree w/o making you re-take classes, so you dont lose credit you have.. and.. if u wanna go out of state MOST colleges will take a degree, a degree's a good thing trust me, and not all classes transfer from gateway so if you take 5 classes say and go to southern maybe only 2 or 3 will transfer, but with a degree they all do.. if you need any other help just ask... i recommend doing most of ur work at the school the first time, like registering verses me showing u here because.. then u learn first hand, see how it works, if u have questions u have the guy right there and he's cool so it isn't like.. you'll be like ugh this guys a pin in the ass... plus then next semester you'll know what u wanna do, this sesmter is only 9/2/05 to i think 12/23 so.. decide soon, the years about to start :) anyways.. go to the school, like i said new haven has more answers then north haven even tho the north haven campus is a bit cleaner and.. reminds me more of high school, i've gone to both.. i've liked both :) so either way you'll be okay!

Okay, So I've basically decided that I am going to go for general studies.. now. More questions, if you don't mind of course. Is there a minimum amount of classes I have to take this first semester, like can I just take 3? What classes do you take for a general studies degree? English, Math, Science, History? Ick, I hate Math by the way.. LOL. Can I be a part time student and still go for general studies? I'm planning on going to LW tomarrow or thursday to sign up and register.. Do they do placement tests everday? It would be nice to be able to take the test the same day instead of having to go back, but I will if I have to. What kind of books do you usually need? OH YEA, Do I have to take electives? I have a friend whose going to gateway and she has like a piano elective and stuff.. Do I haveta do that tooo?!? I'd liket to spend as little money as possible, you know? LOL. I'll just take the required stuff, English, Math, History, Science... or whatever else it requires. Isn't Socialology another requirement of General Studies? HMMMMMMMMMMMM. -------- THNX FOR ALL THE HELP BTW <33333333333 x 24394832940

I have the general studies list... You can take 3 but you'll be part time like you said, not full time, it's good to be full time because then you'll finish college, well the community college in the two year or so period that it's recommended, though I know people who've taken 2/3 classes and are in their fourth year, it's all you to you and your schedule.. yes you can be part time and go toward any degree as far as I know. I'll give you a list of things to take, I have the list saved on my PC and the numbers you see are levels, when you take your placement test you'll understand those numbers on my list I'll send you. You have to take 21- credits of open electives, so yes. Unfort, for all degrees you need electives to make you a "well rounded student" actually sociology and psychology are on that list, I'm taking sociology online next semester..

well i'd take what you like best to get the feeling, you dislike math so why take math right away take your english, that's important... take a history as an elective or use it in that credit spot above and take like sociology or psychology something interesting.
