I was hoping to get some good pics to post, but after about 10 minutes outside in the blowing snow at a wind chill of -38F, I gave up until tomorrow. Actually they (the weather people) say at these temps you shouldn't be out more than 10 minutes or exposed skin starts to get frostbite. (Oldest son has already had a bad case of frostbite so he's definitely gun-shy) We did get a few pics so I can show you something of what we're dealing with. (I hate ending a sentence with a preposition!) Anyway, it took about 3 hours to get a path to the parking area and then around to the tractor behind the barn. A few of the drifts were 4-5 feet high.
Hubby on walk already drifting over again while son attempts to plow with a broken snow blower. sigh. Spring broke on the blower part so he was trying to use the back end to push it around. Unfortunately it's a little too deep to do in less that 8 hours or so.
Youngest son attempting to move snow. Since he has a tendency to get pneumonia and he's just been released after having back surgery, we called the people who used to dig us out to finish the job. I'd rather pay $85 than have him sick again.
Hubby took a pic of me, but you can see how the snow is piled on the deck.
When we got up this morning the temp was -14 with a wind chill of -41. Our county is still under a state of emergency so no one is allowed on the roads unless it's an emergency. No school for grandson and no work for oldest son. Neither one is crying about it. :) On a good note, the truck and Terrain both started and I baked about 8 dozen chocolate chip cookies. :)
