A voter is me!

So, I figured out that I could file a change-of-address form at the polls and cast a "Special" (i.e. provisional) ballot. I went to do that and---what do you know, DC somehow knows my new address, even though I never got a new voter registration card! So my name was right there on the voter rolls, and I just voted normally. Where by "normally" I mean I went down to the person with the ballots, and she asked me "paper or electronic?" and I said "electronic" just for the heck of it, and she gave me a little plastic card to put in the (one) machine, and then I waited in line...and waited...and waited...until it became clear that there was this one woman standing there at the electronic voting machine who had spent the last five minutes trying to vote, but it wasn't working, so I went back and got a paper ballot instead, and connected the little arrow and put it in the scanner machine. Yup, entirely normal for DC. =P

But yay! I voted! (I have proof in sticker form if anyone demands it.)

I do wonder about the fact that I didn't have to show any ID. I just told them my name and they found it in the list and had me sign next to it. Couldn't an unscrupulous person use this loophole to vote in place of others?
