I loved tonight's vespers.
Nathan Smith and his band did a wonderful job. They had interesting nuances in the guitar parts and a ton of energy. And they contrasted that energy with a beautiful, silent a capella portion :). Fantastic.
Stacy welcomed us to vespers and invited us to think about 2007, what we're thankful for, and share about 2008.
Rachel Hijar and Kristen Feldbush sang gloriously while Bradley Kenyon accompanied on the guitar. It was sublime. I closed my eyes and just soaked up the beauty. You could sense a bond of friendship in their singing. They were very in sync -- they even held straight tone on the long notes, switching to vibrato simultaneously. Absolutely gorgeous.
Then the floor was opened for comments. The topic grew very open-ended, and the things shared just filled me up with a sense of encouragement, school spirit, and PUC family. I loved the comments I was hearing. Marshal George, Sean Brizendine, and Lynette Domer sharing about their recent mission experiences and walks of faith, Britney Kohler sharing her experience with her dad's kidney donor's family, Manny sharing how meaningful it is to him to be a part of PUC, Bradley Gienger sharing how the bathroom "spoke" to him :)... it showed the various ways we all have felt God's guidance in our lives and how comfortable we are with each other.
I walked into vespers feeling like I didn't want to be there. I left feeling especially full.
I love this campus! This quarter is looking like the best one yet :).
