Well...the eye of Dennis pretty much over us, give or take a few miles.
We're ok. Because it was moving so fast when it hit shore, it didn't do
anything to us beyond minor damage. Dad was the first to get power
back, but we still had to deal with 3 or 4 hot, frustrating days of
heat, labor, and boredom with my grandparents....*shudder*
So now we're here at my dad's because they have power, cable, and AC!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was reading up on some of my friends' entries. Caught sight of
thesqueak's
journal. An ex girlfriend of mine who turned into a semi-friend just by
way of attempting to keep contact with one another on the basis of
friendship BEFORE we were together. Kind of a common thing with online
relationships, I guess. But either way, she is to be wed to a guy (for
privacy sake, I shall keep the two of them nameless) who she's been
with for a couple of years (?) now. Kinda bummed me out while looking
at her entry entitled "Wedding Progress" (Which is the link I used
with.) I just feel bad because I can't afford to give Kaylea that type
of wedding. You know the type. The kind that all women, regardless of
what they want it to look like, deserve. It's kinda of frustrating that
the only reason that she even has an engagement ring is because my
mother gave me her old one from when she and dad were married. It's not
even sized to fit Kay's finger, much less something to look at. The
band is thin and the diamond is nothing more than a 1k stone. It's sad.
Kinda looks like something that a diamond shit out rather than
something that deserves to be on her finger. I hate it. She says she
loves it but I think it's more of the fact that it's because it was
giving to her from me as a symbol of us getting married than anything
else. I dunno. I just wish I could give her and the girls more than
what I've given them now. I mean....SHIT....we're living with my MOTHER
for fucks sake.
Allright. Enough of the bullshit ranting. The four of us are fine.
Still slightly agrivated because of my grandmother and her happy horse
shit. Got a job offer from my step-father to remodel a church. Decent
money. 9 or 10$/hr. From about 6 am - 4 or 5 pm and I'll be working at
Pizza Hut at a delivery driver for tips. So things shouldn't be all
that bad.
