I've been sleeping better and seem to have fixed my laptop using the tried and true method of "nuke and pave."
I just found out that
my intro to CS prof is "involved in an ongoing project to determine information relating to edit-metric codes. These codes are designed to correct not only substitution errors, but also insertion and deletion errors, and are useful in biological applications." Translation: she's doing exactly the sort of stuff that's very useful in genomics. Score; this'll be helpful down the road. Also, I just volunteered to participate in a study concerning taste and its genetic basis; I'm guessing it'll have something to do with
PROP or possibly
PTC sensitivity, and plan to ambush the poor PhD student with nerdy questions.
I made the mistake today of wearing my wool cap to university; being that I don't have a comb, now I can't take it off until I go home. Hat hair FTL!
