ahh

Wasn't aware there was a name for it. Suspected the light had something to do with it -- my baseline mood is definitely more positive and energetic when the sun is out -- and now I know: baseline seratonin levels approximately track the amount of exposure to natural light, and I'm probably slightly more sensitive to it than the average. This also suggests that the shitty lighting in my room isn't doing me any favours. From now on the two table lamps stay on all evening. It'd probably also help to start sleeping right. Gonna have to be a midnight curfew on weeknights from now on, unfortunately.

[edit] I really started this semester off on the wrong foot, and aim to fix that. Purchased a whiteboard today and am going to use it as an ongoing "SHIT TO DO" list, because I find I get more done when I have my tasks constantly staring me in the face. Also have set Google Calendar as my homepage so that I see what I've got ahead of me every time I load up Firefox. Having Kei punish/bribe me helps too, of course. :)

[edit] I also wonder about my diet. I never pay much attention to it, but I bet it impacts my mood and energy levels significantly. All other things equal, it's better to have a steady blood-sugar level than to have it spiking up and down, which I probably do.
