On Saturday The Girls™ descended on my otherwise quite abode in order to let me know just how much they love me and how happy they are that I am in the world. They had presents so I let them in. Turns out that was a good move since the presents were awesome. Seriously, I got great stuff - way more than I could have hoped. I will smell good, look good, and feel good because of it all. “Thank you, thank you”, my lovelies, for your generosity.
In addition to the presents, Kelly made me the Bestest Birthday Cake Evah. I’m still smiling about it. It featured three of my favorite celebrity men (Bono, Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale) discussing what to get me for my birthday. I’ll try to put up some pics of it if the ones I took came out. Besides fabulous decor, the cake is also extremely tasty. Honestly, Kel, it is delicious. I feel badly that we didn’t get to cut it all together because it is that yummy. Of course, that did leave more for me. Not that I had an evil plan or anything.
It all sounds like a fun time so far, right? But wait! There’s more! After reveling in my gifts, we all loaded up and headed to our old stomping grounds of Jackson to watch 300. It was my birthday so it was my pick and I picked a good ‘un. It’s hard to beat immensely well cut men wearing only capes and diapers and fighting for their lives. Also, beyond the manflesh, the movie was beautifully done. The entire look and feel was utterly engaging. And did I mention the men? Utterly engaging.
Following the show (as my mother calls it), we headed out for a bite to eat and much girly chit chat. Then before it got too late we called it an evening and parted ways. All in all, it was a pretty darn good birthday celebration.
As much as I loved the gifts and movie, the very best gift was having my friends around me. Heading home that night, I was filled with such a sense of thankfulness for them. They truly make my world a better place and I could not be more fortunate than to have them in my life. May you all be so blessed.
300,
birthday,
friends
