of course i come over and they're watching some french film that looks like i'd want to see it all the way through but of course i talk right over it to say i got accepted into the program and that i'll be in rome for three months starting in february and of course alyssa gets up and kisses me on the face and mouth a bunch of times and of course her hair's gotten longer and she looks exactly how somebody ought to look when you're nineteen and in love and of course she's probably the only person who knows anything real about things you don't really think about unless you're a sad artist or a pregnant happy woman and of course i go into the kitchen where the b and r are making sandwiches and of course i slice the tomato and bring a plate of it into the living room and of course we eat the pineapple grinning over the sink because it's so juicy and of course we make a mess anyway and of course i wash all the dishes that have piled up for a week and of course i don't mind because of course i love these boys like family and of course matt stands next to me with a hand towel and dries everything and of course we push the kitchen table up against the wall and of course we sit around laughing the way you do to make your belly ache and of course i don't go home until 2am and of course of course of course it is to be expected.
