World's worst poster makes a post

Let's see...(checks journal)...it's been exactly one month since I last posted.  And it's not like nothing has been going on.  It's been a rather eventful month.  For one thing, my wife's surgery went exactly as planned.  Actually it went better than planned. Unlike 99% of the time, she healed quickly.  And now she's feeling healthy...in that area.  Right now, she's down with a cold, suffering from a terrible sore throat and a possible fever.

It has occurred to me that I seem to be the opposite of goddessofchaos when it comes to posting.  She tends to make wonderful long posts that sometimes are about absolutely nothing.  Me, I post rarely and it's rarely lyrical.  Not that I'm incapable of it, but I don't write nearly as much as I ought to and am, perhaps, out of practice.  (I'm also capable of things like run-on sentences.  You just never know what you're going to get when I write.)

Today it is raining.  I love it. I keep forgetting this, but occasionally I get stuck in the rain and I am forced to remember.  Today was one of those days, making a trip to get the get the garbage and recycling cans something slightly magical.  I stopped short of dancing in it, but did give it considerable thought.  Moving in a somewhat non-sequiterish way it's also nice to not need to go to bed immediately because today is a day off.  So a nice day overall, topped with a venture into finding out what all the fuss about "My little Pony: Friendship is Magic" is all about.  (Supposedly guys like it as much as girls -- I've had it recommended by both a male friend and my favorite webcomic, (also authored by a guy).

Um..events.  Went to the GottaBeNC festival and gorged myself on BBQ.  Then I had to go and restock on my favorite BBQ sauce.  It's a combination of tomato-based and vinegar-based sauce.  Tastes like nothing else that I know of.  Especially good on chicken nuggets.  I must remember to go buy some.  Hmm...is that a 50 McNugget box calling?

Then came the Bridge tournament.  On my third event,I finally scored some MasterPoints!  I'm no longer a zero!  Even better, they gave me a little trophy for doing the best in the beginner class.  But best of all was competing against higher-ranked opponents and being able to hold my own.  My partner and I finished a respectable 7th out of 15 total teams and third among teams that had up to 100 MPs.  Thursday is going to be cool.  It's called Mentor pairs and each newbie is paired with someone who is advanced at the game.  It just so happens that a friend of mine is married to a guy who is something of a Bridge whiz.  I can say that because he won three different events with three different partners.  Truly impressive considering that understanding your partner is a big part of the game.

The rest of the day?  Not sure.  I'll probably get some work done on my second job.  Maybe I should jump back out in the rain.  You know I think I'm going to do that.  It's not often this long-lost Western Washingtoner can enjoy a warm rain.

Have a great day, y'all.
