Happy Saint Patricks day everybody! This is planned RP. Feel free to Comment-but Thomas will probably be mentioning this tomorrow. :D Also, this deals with some very serious issues and there's a reason behind it. Today was just a serrendipitous occurance.
Washington DC
Sunday Night/Monday Morning
Everyone has nightmares.
Thomas Barnes is one of the few men who have the ability to see both his own and the nightmares of people who he protects play out on a grand stage. The peace of Georgetown shattering is one of his nightmares, accompanied by another-namely the woman standing in front of him drenched from head to toe in Potomac water.
He cannot pull President Ashton off of her. She's shaking and sobbing and there's water in his hair and all over his suit.
The Press-the press are everywhere.
"What the hell were you thinking?" President Ashton is stroking her hair and whispering to her, "What the hell were you thinking?"
He should not be here. He is intruding on a man's grief.
"Jesus Christ Susannah, what the hell were you thinking? You almost died! Susie-Susie-"
"Mr. President! Mr. President!" Barnes has to shove a man out of the way as Joel-his former partner and now his pro-temp boss, points to the waiting limosine, "Mr. President!"
Barnes clenches his fist and teeth so hard that one probably snaps as he holds open the door and sits across from the leader of the country at his most vunerable, holding his sobbing child on his lap.
It's three am and he's responding to a call from Christopher Snowe staring at his hands even now sillouetted against the lights of the retreating car. "The Nighthawk pulled a Fucking Kennedy."
He vowed to berate the man for such a crass statement later. He held Snowe's resignation in one hand-hesitating in front of the President, "Sir-"
President Ashton did not respond.
"Would you like some water?"
Something small began beeping, startling both Barnes and his colleague, following Susannah Ashton with her own black hair plastered to her face and her eyes wide. She stopped short and held up her watch, "....Happy Saint Patricks Day everybody."
......I'd ask everyone to wait for President Ashton's official press conference before making any snap judgements. Susannah is fine. I want to stress that first and foremost.
Meantime. Stay safe today?
