I'm going to have to say it right now... I have one of the coolest jobs ever. Other than being like a game tester for bungie I have most things beat out.
I work at a concert series, and it goes on all summer, most of the people that come are washed up rock stars, but we do get a bunch of big names, among them, Billy Idol, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Journey, Boston, Travis Tritt, Keith Urban, Rascall Flatts, Kansas, David Lee Roth, Three Days Grace, and of course Alice Cooper.
Now to the point of the thread, since I work there, I pretty much know everyone who runs the place, and if I am lucky I can get something autographed, or meet them, nothing serious, just shake hands or something.
But tonight was different, I met a guy while working there, who works for our classic rock station in Richmond, (also one of our biggest sponsors), who's friend is actually a "band aid " and "knows " the lead guitarist. And of course, we start talking about the soon to come Alice Cooper show, I had met him a few weeks back. So his job is actually the head promotional supervisor for the radio station, so his job is basically to give stuff away. So I get a Billy Idol's show from last year, a few movie tickets, and Velvet Revolver's album "contraband." So anyway, we get to talking and he tells me that he can get me in to meet Alice Cooper, so I'm siked.
Now, I'm not exactly high on the staff at work, I just have my connections, I have to talk to someone else to actually have something done, so anyway, I don't have an actual pass that's needed to get backstage to meet him, so I just get John(one of my bosses) to get me backstage so I can hook up with Rob(The radio guy). So I get backstage, hang with Rob, and he talks to his friend, Sherry (The group... err, "band aid" ) and I meet the tour manager and the lead guitarist, which is cool, but still not Alice Cooper.
So we wait, and the head security dude decides to be a total dick and almost kicks me out, but to the rescue comes Roxy(the guitarist) and he goes "Dude, lay the fuck off, he's cool." Those were his exact words. So I get through, and we go into Alice Cooper's tour bus. Not only do I get to meet him, I actually chill out in the bus for 10 or so minutes, with Alice, Rob, and a few other random guys. I got an autograph and a picture with him, so you can expect those soon. I am unbelievably giddy right now.
