Where Your Love Begins

There are much sharper weapons than knives.
Do heed the warnings: this fic is creepy and disturbing and deliciously effed-up, but so compellingly written that I couldn't take my eyes away from it. The torture feels very immediate and visceral, the relationship dynamics os both Dean/Cas and Dean/Alastair are absolutely dysfunctional, and there's a sense of dawning horror as the layers are peeled back and the full extent of what's really going on is revealed. This story also features some brilliant apperances from the S4 secondary cast, and though it's definitely not a happy fic, it's one that lingers in the mind afterwards.

Dean and Castiel take shelter from no ordinary storm.
And now for something completely different! dotfic builds a Purgatory that's harsh and terrifying with some very original monsters, but the most satisfying thing about this fic for me is the way in which Dean and Cas are able to lean on each other despite the horror of their situation and all the unresolved issues between them. With pitch-perfect characterisations and a gorgeous sense of place, this was exactly the hiatus fic I needed after the S7 cliffhanger.
