Eames sped up a little. “Arthur? You can see my nipples through my shirt. I can't be seen like this in polite company -- not that it will be polite company. Arthur, are you listening to me?” Arthur made no indication he's heard; no snort, no rolled eyes, nothing. “Look, if you're giving me the silent treatment, it's going to be nothing but a relief.” Still nothing. “Okay, all right, christ. You were right about the bloody skylight. There, happy?”
And yet Arthur still didn't respond, weaving through the press of people, none of whom seemed particularly interested in a couple of men in soaking wet business suits.
“Arthur,” Eames said, his tone perilously close to a whine. He caught Arthur's elbow, bringing them both to a stop in the middle of the pavement. “Don't be angry.”
But Arthur's expression wasn't angry; it was confused. “What?”
Now Eames was confused as well. “Didn't you just hear any of that?”
Arthur grimaced. “Eames, I can't hear anything. The water fried my implants.”
