Cookbook - entry

I haven't done one of these for a really long time! Plus, I actually have pictures this time! Haha.

So I've ventured into the world of cake pops and started making my own. My first attempt was for a friend's birthday, and then the second was for testing/recipe follow up. I've found out that I'm not very good, but hopefully with more experience and practice I'll get better!

Ingredients

Ganache
9oz Chopped Chocolate of your choice (I use a mixture of dark and semi-sweet chocolates)
1C Whipping or Heavy Cream

Cake Pops
3 Costco Muffins or ~750g cake

Decorating
Any kind of chocolate or Wilton's brand of colour melts
Sprinkles, sugar candy, coloured stuff
Lollipop sticks

Directions
Ganache
1. Heat the cream in a pan until boiled.
2. Pour hot cream over the chocolate and start stirring. The mixture will look odd, and it will be a little difficult to stir at first, but slowly the cream and the chocolate will incorporate and become smooth and glossy.

Cake Pops
1. Have your cake crumbed (I use a food processor for easier no-hassle crumbing) and ready.
2. Pour the ganache into the crumbs and stir well until the crumbs have absorbed the liquid and the mixture is easy to squeeze into shapes.
3. Let chill in the refrigerator 15 min to firm up a little.
4. Roll into small balls using the palms of your hands, and set onto a nonstick surface (I use parchment paper).
5. Chill until firm, another 15 minutes minimum.
6. Heat up chocolate or candy melts (microwave or over stove in bain marie).
7. Take cake pops out. Now is the time to fix the shape, so roll again until smooth ball or correct shape for what you want.
8. Dip lollipop sticks into chocolate or candy melts and then stick into the cake pops. Chill again and let harden.
9. Take the cake pops and dip into your chocolate or candy melt, then add the decorations. Let rest in styrofoam or cake pop holders until they're hard and the decorations have set.
10. Enjoy!

As you can see, I'm really awful at decorating these, but I'm slowly getting better! My second round ones were nicer looking than the first time LOL. For reference, I think the costco muffins are actually on the sweet side, so I'm going to maybe try a cream cheese, buttercream, or no frosting technique for the third time. I'll let you guys know how that works!

Anata's co-workers are all my guinea pigs, hehe.
