State of the Meme Post, May/June 2011
Hello, my lovely meme-goers, be you Writer-Anons, Requester-Anons, or lurkers. This is The Mod That Uses the Reborn Icon (henceforth referred to as "Reborn-Mod" or just "Reborn" or "me/I" as context allows). We have some important issues facing us in the days and weeks ahead!
The current meme is almost a year and a half old, and is reaching the "ReCaptcha" number of comments, which is 5000. After each post after this number, you will have to enter a reCaptcha in order to submit your post. We also missed our first anniversary due to some Real Life popping up for Reborn-Mod. The Filled and Unfilled Lists are behind as always, and I am the only one doing them.
These issues bring up a few questions and ideas that I can only solve with your input. Please read and leave your feedback in the comments. I am hoping to have everything settled by June first, since June 2nd marks our year-and-a-half anniversary so I can implement any fun things we decide on then. And reopen the meme or start the new meme post.
1) Anniversary.
I wanted to do something for our first year anniversay, but as stated, Real Life decided to interfere. I never did decide on a celebration. A round robin was suggested by Anon. I was also thinking of a Best-of-Meme Award, where you get to nominate the best stories on the meme and vote for a winner. Prizes were simply a banner or a special archival page or something, I never got that far.
The questions are:
a) Round Robin. Is there interest? Who knows how to do it? Because Reborn never really has.
b) Best of Awards. Is there interest? Any suggestions on this? I think it sounds like fun, but what does Anon think?
2) ReCaptcha/New Meme Post
Do people care about this? I think reCaptcha is pain, although it can spark some funny banter, and am more likely to start a new meme post than put up with it for long. What do you think? Are we ready for another meme post, a fresh meme, if you will?
3) Lists
Do people actually use these, or have I wasted a year of my life angsting over them?
That's basically what it boils down to. Is it worth it to continue compiling the lists of filled and unfilled requests? Any suggestions to make them work better or easier?
Please not that Fill-Only Time is an absolute requirement if we keep the lists at all. Under no circumstances am I leaving the meme open all the time AND coding unfilled request lists. No way in six hells.
4) FAQ
I'm also compiling a Frequently Asked Questions list for the meme. Anything you think should be on it?
