Didn't sleep really well last night for reasons unknown to me. I only have the better part of eight months of undersleeping to account for, so I'm not really worried, just still kinda tired.
Went shooting last night, which was damned hard in the like 35-40 m.p.h. wind. Still managed to hit 11 out of 25, but we're going again tonight and I oughta do better. I'm on a team with Jason and some of his friends, go me.
Yep, I'm already bored out of my skull, and yes, having a perpetually underfoot dog makes unpacking go annoyingly slow. This is gonna be a bad summer to wear black [sighs].
On the bright side, I have an interview Sunday at Sam Goody in Beaver Dam, this being the only store in the only mall (and I use the term mall loosely, as in a couple stores in the same building that happen to be tied around a department store) in the area that wouldn't awaken homicidal tendencies in me.
So, yeah, I'm back in WI, reporting from the wide spot in the road that my mom and Jason now live. I incorrectly referred to it as "some backwater two-horse town", and Jason corrected me…evidently one of the horses died. Everything is slow in this town, and on occasion the Internet refuses to work when it rains. Wow, just wow. I'm stuck with a hideous 28.8 connection for the next three months, so if my updates are infrequent, there's why. I'm also an hour away from any center of civilization, and the second car (my mom's Topaz, which is now about as close to "grizzled" as a car could ever be) is right now uninsured, so it looks like I'm going nowhere for a couple of weeks.
I feel like Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: A New Hope, when he describes where he is as, "You know the bright shining center to the universe? This is that planet that it's furthest from."
I'm happy to be back, but I'm just not back in the right place.
