Well. Kyouya supposed the weather wasn't that bad at least.

Which was about the only thing he could say yet. All he knew about the place was that it was supposedly warm, not too overcrowded, and had Cavallone acting like an overly giddy schoolkid. Two out of three was good enough that he wasn't planning to drown his fiancé in the sea. Not right away at least.

After all, it would be such a waste to kill Dino before he had had the chance to show off his new equipment.

Dino was certainly very happy that Kyouya had agreed with his plan for White Day. It was something that he had been thinking about for quite a long time, basically because he had always wanted to go somewhere romantic with Kyouya without being disturbed by their works. So, when his lover had agreed to go with him to Maldive in order to celebrate White Day, the Don Cavallone was very happy indeed.

Not that they were totally alone, of course, because Dino was still a don and Kyouya was still the Guardian of Vongola. While Kyouya had often went alone in his missions, Dino’s subordinates certainly hadn’t felt safe enough to let their don out of their watch in such a far place. Assassination could easily be done in a secluded island like this without no one knowing, after all. His subordinates had been kind enough to let them have a whole island by their selves, though, so Dino hadn’t protested about it. Not much, anyway.

"So, what do you want to do first, Kyouya? We can ask the chef here to make some delicious sea foods if you want, or we can rest for a while. It’s always a good idea to go to the beach and simply enjoying the scenery, of course." Dino opened the conversation as the both of them finished unpacking their belongings in their room.

"Hm." Kyouya rolled his shoulders. The trip to the island had left him feeling quite restless. "Or we could ask for food and get in a little spar while we wait for it to be ready~"

Oh, great. They were now in such a lovely place, a secluded island surrounded by clear sea with no one else but them to do as they pleased, and the first thought in his lover’s mind was still sparring. Dino resisted the urge to sigh.

Well, it had been quite a long time since they last sparring and, to be honest, Dino quite missed it too. Besides, sparring always had the additional bonus of both of them getting quite … excited afterwards. It would also make Kyouya happy, of course.

"Alright. Let’s do that. Thankfully, the area is certainly larger here and we don’t even have to worry about damaging any properties." Dino agreed. "I’ll go ask the chef for foods, then. You can come with me or go out first."

"I think I'll go out." All the better for the surprise.

Dino nodded. "Okay. Wait for me, then. I promise I won’t take long." The don kissed his lover softly before walking out of the room to the kitchen. He was sure the chef would gladly cook amazing sea foods for them and, considering the spar, Dino was sure they would need lots of foods after that.

Kyouya smirked, heading outside as soon as Dino had left. He saw no point in changing to his training clothes this time. After all, if he was to make an impression, he could just as well go for the whole ride.

As Dino had thought, his request for foods was accepted happily by the chef. He made sure to tell the kind woman that they would be out before having dinner, though, so it might be better to prepare the food some time later. Once the chef had agreed, Dino said his thanks and walked back to the bed room.

He took his whip before heading outside, already anticipating to be injured, although not too badly, hopefully. Good thing Romario had packed lots of bandages and medicines for them.

Kyouya was waiting for him outside, looking quite relaxed for someone standing on fine, white sand in the sunlight in an impeccable dress shirt and slacks. He appeared unarmed. "About time you arrived."

"I do believe I didn’t take more than fifteen minutes," Dino shot back with a grin. "Impatient much, Kyouya?"

"To show you pain? Always." And, with a smirk, he pulled up his sleeve, revealing an intricate bracelet.

Dino quirked his eyebrow as he saw the bracelet circling Kyouya’s deceptively delicate wrist. "A bracelet?"

Kyouya's smirk got wider as he lifted his arm in front of himself, giving Dino a better look of the purple stone and the hedgehog ornament. "Previously also known as the Vongola ring and Roll."

"... Ah. So it really has been upgraded." Dino remembered the strange old man who had visited the university some time ago. Talbot, was it? He had came to upgrade the Vongola rings, although Dino wasn’t sure it was needed. Apparently, Kyouya had chosen to upgrade his. "Am I at a huge disadvantage here?" Upgrades meant new techniques, after all.

"Oh, I don't know. In fact," a scary, scary little smirk, "I was hoping you could teach me some things."

Well, that was quite unexpected, although Kyouya’s smirk made Dino’s eyes narrowed in caution. "So we’ll be actually training instead of sparring? What could I possibly teach you that I hadn’t done before?"

"Oh, I'm sure you'll notice soon enough." He lit his flame, letting his Gear do its work. A coat, a pair of tonfas, and roll. Everything was quite ready for a nice little sparring match.

Dino’s eyes widened as he took in Kyouya’s new attire. He was speechless for a while before finally he commented with, "Wow. You look like … a yakuza, actually." There was a slight apologetic tone in his voice as he said that.

Kyouya huffed. "I'm infinitely better than them." And, with that, he attacked.

"Woah, I never said you’re like them! I just said you look like them!" Which made such a huge difference, of course. Side-stepping Kyouya’s attack, Dino readied his whip to defend himself.

Ah, just as expected. He wouldn't have accepted anything less from his fiancé. Instead of immediately making a counter-attack, however, he bounced back right away, trusting quite rightly Roll to be right where he needed her to be, providing him with useful stepping stones up and out of Dino's reach. Smirking down at the blond, he swung his tonfa again, clearly too far to get anywhere near Dino. Clearly.

Dino blinked when Kyouya put some distance between them. It was certainly unusual. Kyouya’s style of fighting was close-range combat with those two tonfas always trying to hit their enemies mercilessly, so why did the dark haired man bothered to put such a huge distance between them? Dino was certainly out of Kyouya’s range now.

Hazel eyes narrowed as Dino’s mind hastily calculated all the possibilities for this sudden change. He readied himself to dodge Kyouya’s attack, whip being held and stretched tight between two hands.

Mid-swing, the cap at the end of his tonfa popped off, trailing a long, sharp-edged chain after itself. A chain which stretched on beyond any measure that could have been reasonably hidden within the tonfa.

Few things are outside the range of a weapon that can extend its reach at whim.

Dino’s eyes widened as he saw Kyouya’s tonfa -- could it even still be called as tonfa? -- actually extended towards him. "Shit," he cursed lowly before hastily stepping back, trying to get out of the weapon’s range and using his whip to capture those chain and slow it down.

Except the range kept extending. Well, it did until it finally missed Dino by only a few inches, Kyouya finishing his swing before letting the chain decrease to a more reasonable length, now hanging freely from the end of the tonfa as he stood quite calmly on a spiked ball of destruction.

"The future you was quite accomplished in the use of whips with mutable length," he pointed out, the very picture of calmness. "I figured the current you can't be entirely clueless, either."

The tip of Kyouya’s weapon grazed Dino’s cheek, making red blood flowed out from the opened skin. Dino hissed at the sting before pulling his whip back close to him. The blond man stared at his lover for a while, surprise still clear on his eyes, before finally allowing a small smirk on his face.

"My, my, I didn’t know I have such big influence to you, Kyouya. Taking on my fighting style, now? I’m flattered." Of course he still could be arrogant even in prospect of more trying spars with his lover.

Kyouya's smirk showed his teeth, now. "Watch your mouth or I'll let you figure out who influenced my explosive hedgehog mines."

Dino’s eyes reflexively went to Roll who was floating close to Kyouya. Who would ever think such a small and cute animal could be so dangerous? "So, you want me to train you how to properly use your weapon?" Changing the subject would be the wisest decision.

"I thought I made that clear already."

"Is that actually mean we wouldn’t have to spar and could train in conventional way instead?"

"Well, if you want to be boring."

Dino was perfectly alright with being boring, actually, especially if it meant he would be injury-free today. "You wouldn’t like that boring way, though, would you?"

"You're the one who knows this." For once, he would actually admit it.

Dino only nodded. He could acknowledge that fact and he knew how hard it might be for Kyouya to admit it. "Well, after being your tutor for years, I’ve found out that the easiest way for you to learn is actually by applying the lesson directly in a fight. So," he shrugged his shoulders before readying his whip again, an almost arrogant smirk on his face. "Just come at me, Kyouya."

Which was, of course, all the encouragement Kyouya needed to attack.

Good thing Dino had been trained by Reborn to actually learn in a fight, too. The blond man was ready this time. He used his whip to counter Kyouya’s attack. Whip had been his main weapon for more than ten years. He knew everything about long-range weapons, included its weak points, of course.

For Kyouya this was more about experimenting. He knew the basic functions of his weapon, he wouldn't have challenged Dino otherwise, but while he had wielded chains on his tonfas before, this was a fundamentally different weapon. Unsure as he was of how things were supposed to work, he decided to tackle this problem as he did with most problems he faced -- by attacking someone head on.

Of course, the main problem was with this upgrade, Kyouya would be able to have greater area to cover. Before, the dark haired man always needed to get close to Dino in order to attack, but now, he could easily switch style from short-range attacks into mid and long-range attacks.

That, to be honest, was quite … irritating.

Dino cursed under his breath as Kyouya decided to attack him head on. His whip was still stretched wide and it would surely take time to pull it back. Knowing he wouldn’t be able to dodge this one attack, Dino lifted his hand in defense instead.

The end of Kyouya's whip struck against Dino's, curling around it in a mad spin. "You know, Cavallone," he said with an almost casual tone, "were it anyone else I was going up against, I would have used the bladed edge." Not because he avoided harm to Dino, but because their spar would have been cut short if he had harmed Dino's weapon.

Dino laughed breathlessly even as he tried to pull his whip free against Kyouya’s. "My, I’m glad I’m not anyone else, then. Reborn would surely kill me if I destroyed this whip." It was, after all, Leon’s gift to him. A proof that Dino was acknowledged as Don Cavallone.

"I do hope that you do have enough strength to keep me from cutting straight through."

"I hope so too," Dino murmured under his breath before he decided to take some risk and moving towards Kyouya in order to attack him directly while keeping the pull between their whips tight.

Kyouya, of course, replied with his other tonfa.

He wondered whether Dino realised it had the same chain.

Thank God Kyouya hadn’t used Roll yet. Dino ducked to avoid the swing of Kyouya’s tonfa and kicked out, aiming to trip Kyouya or, at the very least, making him stepped back. He would be in even greater danger if he couldn’t reclaim his weapon soon.

How unfortunate for him, or perhaps just unduly fortunate, that while Kyouya much preferred melee, he was now in the mood for testing out his new weapons. The chain practically sucked itself back into his tonfa as he bounced back again, eyeing Dino from a small distance.

Dino had to do some tricky maneuver to keep his balance as his whip was suddenly let loose, but he managed it, at least. Now he got his weapon back. Well, it was good enough. He’d certainly need it even more in this spar. "You certainly seem comfortable enough with your new weapons, Kyouya."

"I've learned the basic ins and outs." Kyouya smirked. "I obviously need to save some of them for surprises later on, though."

Obviously. "Well, I think you’re doing well enough without even a proper training. I’m sure the more often you used it in fights, the more expert you’ll be able to handle it." Which would be a bad news for Dino, actually.

"Of course, you get to see all of it first." A smirk. "I do need to train before using those weapons against anyone who actually wants to kill me."

"I am glad to be your experimental opponent, then," there was only slight sarcasm in those words. "Shall we continue this delightful training?"

"But of course." And here came another strike of the whip.

Dino was ready to dodge Kyouya’s whip this time. Unfortunately, in his hasty moves, his foot slipped from the sand. "Eh? Whoaa!!" The improper footing made Dino lost his balance and it was clear that he would never win against gravity as his body was quick to be pulled into the ocean.

A loud splash resounded as Don Cavallone fell flat on his back, salty water dampening his shirt, hair and body. "Uwah, that’s cold!"

Kyouya's attack stopped immediately as he halted, looking at his currently rather wet fiancé. "Clumsy, Cavallone."

Dino could only give Kyouya a sheepish grin for that remark. "Um, sorry," he scratched his wet head, wrinkling his nose in slight disgust when he found out that his golden strands were sticky. "Ah, crap, I wasn’t planning to swim this early."

Kyouya huffed. "I guess we'll have to get you changed," he remarked. "I wouldn't put it past you to get sick in weather like this."

"Sorry, I’m cutting our training short." Dino actually sounded genuinely sorry as he said that.

"We were going to eat anyway," Kyouya pointed out. "And at least this way you have some time to think before the next time we train."

"And I do need a little break," Dino agreed before standing up. He shook his wet head, splashing droplets of water around him, before picking up his wet whip. "I should let this dry before using it again." Sighing, the blond man then walked closer to his fiancé.

"Probably so, yes." Kyouya smirked. "It could have been worse. You could have landed on your face."

"True. Salt water is not something I enjoy as a drink, too."

"You'd be an idiot to drink it for fun." Kyouya snorted. "Come on, unless you want to be wet while we eat."

"I don’t want to be wet while we eat, but, before that," Dino reached out a hand to cup the back of Kyouya’s head before pulling the younger man close in order to kiss Kyouya’s lips quite passionately.

Kyouya allowed him the kiss, then gave him a slightly amused look. "And what was that for?"

"Nothing, only because I want to," Dino answered with a grin. "Can’t I do that?"

"Just wondering if this was some stupid scheme of yours, that's all."

"You wound me with your words, Love. I will never scheme anything against you." A sincere expression was put on Dino’s face as he said that.

"That only depends on the definition of the word 'scheme'."

Dino chuckled. "Well, you certainly know me well, Kyouya~"

"One should hope so, it'd be quite terrifying to marry a man I don't know at all."

Dino was about to retorted when he suddenly pulled away and sneezed. "Ah, gee, I guess we really should get back in now."

"If you manage to catch a cold I will never respect you again."

"I won’t catch a cold. It’ll be impolite if I brought you here only to leave you because I’m sick, after all," Dino commented before pulling off his wet shirt.

"Impolite indeed." Kyouya snorted.

Dino had a thought that Kyouya was remembering the day when they went to Italy and Dino had to leave on the first light of the next day until very late in the night only because he had to talk to his consigliere. Wisely, though, the blond man only smiled apologetically.

"Let’s go back inside. All this activity has made me quite hungry and I’m sure the foods will be served soon~"

Kyouya hmphed. "They'd better. Roll and I are getting hungry." With this, he let the spiked spheres disappear, Roll dropping to his soldier as his tonfas faded away as well.

Dino heaved a faint sigh of relief as he saw Kyouya putting away his weapons before smiling and taking Kyouya’s hand as they headed back to the cottage.
