Break-ing News
So. It appears there are certainly enough people to continue the game. At the same time, several people are experiencing technical problems or other limitations. As a result, here's what we're going to do.
The game will go on a temporary break. After that, we will be restarting on an eased schedule, with some bonuses offered to keep everyone happy.
November: The game is officially CLOSED for the month of November. This will hopefully tide us over the worst, including such pesky little concerns as NaNo.
December: The game will be REOPENED on December 1st. However, for the month of December, we'll still be working light; there are no classes in-game, so everyone can concentrate on driving each other crazy just having fun. Oh, and getting ready for Choice. Ohhh yes, Choice. Full activity is not required during this period, but we hope people will hang around.
January: The game will be back to normal, with classes starting again for the characters. There will be a new round of Choice, possibly along with some other nifty things to keep everyone going. From January on, anyone not on hiatus will be expected to meet basic activity levels.
Bonuses:
Upgrades! Sometime in December, Talbot will visit the university. This means any Vongola Guardians have the choice of updating their gear. Depending on the characters available, a similar opportunity may be offered to Shimon. An experimental Box Weapon store will also open its doors in the near future for those who think their weapons are too boring.
Erase your mistakes! As this is a partial restart, players are allowed to retcon certain aspects of their characters' past in the game, provided other characters involved agree. Any significant changes have to be negotiated and approved by the mods, though. The main point of this is to allow adjusting to the ever-changing character/player list, as well as to accommodate new canon facts where applicable*, not just to mess things up.
Choice! The popular Choice tournament from last January will be back! The basic idea will be the same -- you may use logs, fanarts, and fanfics to score points -- but the teams, scoring, and other such aspects may be readjusted to hopefully bring you an even more entertaining experience. Any suggestions, wishes, and complaints are welcome.
Characters! Due to lowered number of players, character limits will be raised. However, this only pertains to active players, and will be granted on a case-by-case basis. If you wish to have extra characters, you will first have to prove to us you can keep up with the ones you already have.
Rewards! I will continue to offer drabbles for updates at least during December, possibly longer.
Other fun stuff! We have plenty of other plans to keep you all interested, too, so look forward to them!
*Adding in new canon information that came out after you took the character is NOT mandatory. However, retcons to accommodate such are always allowed, not just right now, provided all involved agree. You are also free to continue playing characters according to your initial interpretation if you wish. The most important thing is to have fun.
WHAT YOU WILL HAVE TO DO:
Please contact the mods, either here or over AIM/similar, to notify us on whether you're going to continue in the game. Even if you commented on the last entry, a confirmation is nice. Also please notify us if you'd like to drop some of your characters (meaning you want to continue to play, but not with all your current characters), if you'd like to take up a new character (within basic limits and subject to application), or if you already know you won't be able to be properly back until next year. All these details will be taken into account as we plan the restart.
Other than that, sit back, take a deep breath, and relax. Think up some ideas. Plan your character's Christmas list. Or who knows, just put the whole game out of your mind for the rest of the month and reserve your energy. You'll need it, come December.
