Who: Alaudi, Cavallone Dino and Hibari Kyouya
What: Alaudi visits his dearest successor.
When: June 24th
Where: Hibari's hospital room.
Rating: PG-13

Soft foot steps could be heard in the hospital’s corridor. The foot steps of the doctors and the nurses that had to walk over there to check on the patients. There were no many other people in the corridor except for the hospital’s staffs, though, and it might be slightly strange to see someone with beige hair and heavy black mantle among the white uniforms of doctors and nurses.

Alaudi walked through the corridor with certain and yet soft steps. He had heard the news and it was not difficult to search the room’s number in which his successor was resting at the moment. He certainly was curious what could have happened and made his successor be so careless as to letting someone got near enough with him to pull a trick like stabbing him on the back.

As he arrived in front of Hibari’s hospital room, Alaudi knocked at the door because he knew it was polite and the right thing to do. It didn’t mean he wouldn’t come in even if the door was not opened, though.

Inside the room, Dino lifted his head when he heard the knock. He was still in alert state of manner because, up until now, he still couldn’t find the culprit who had dare to hurt his Kyouya, and so he was rather suspicious as to who would visit Kyouya at the moment.

Standing up from his seat, Dino walked toward the door and opened it. He blinked in surprise when he saw who was on the other side of the door.

“Alaudi-san...?”

Kyouya was brought out of his half-asleep daze at the knock on the door, looking over. As he saw the man behind the door Dino had just opened, he frowned. What was the first Cloud doing here?

Alaudi only gave Dino a nod when the man opened the door. He, then, proceeded to enter the room and he gave a smirk towards Hibari Kyouya who was still lying on the hospital bed.

“You look weak.” he commented without any preamble or greetings.

“Don’t say something like that, Alaudi-san,” Dino sighed even as he closed the door once Alaudi had entered the room. “Kyouya had been stabbed. It’s no wonder if he still look kinda- ah, bad.”

"Let it be, Cavallone," Kyouya murmured, his eyes still intent on Alaude. "At the moment, I am weak. It would only be... logical for me to look the part."

The smirk on Alaudi’s face widened and he took a seat on the chair beside Hibari’s bed. The one that Dino always used while he was there. “So. How could you be so idiotic, my dear successor?” he asked straight-forwardly, his blue eyes gazing straight at Hibari’s dark ones.

Dino scratched his neck, quite unsure what to do. He knew it might be better if he didn’t interrupt the two Cloud Guardians’ talk, but he didn’t want to leave Kyouya alone too, even if Alaudi was there. In the end, he opted to just lean on the wall next to the door and watch.

"I was surprised," Kyouya replied. "I wasn't aware an enemy was nearby." It was true enough. He never considered her an enemy, merely an opponent.

Alaudi raised his eyebrow. “You weren’t? How rare. Were you distracted by someone-” the blue orbs switched their focus to Dino for a moment before back at Hibari again. “-or because some other reason you stupidly lower your defense?”

"Cavallone did arrive just then," Kyouya replied. "Also, the hall was full of traces of mist from our training."

“Training? Ah, with your student, Suzuki Adelheid? I heard she is the strongest Shimon member. Her element is ice, right?”

"I do have other students as well, you know." Kyouya managed a small smirk. "But, yes, her. I have been training her to... deal with mist. It's been slow, though. Her element is not exactly... ideal for such things."

“You won’t spar with people who are weak and not manage to catch your interest, though.” Alaudi remarked calmly before his eyes narrowed slightly. “So there were only you, Cavallone Decimo and Suzuki Adelheid back then? You said you were teaching her to deal with mist, so it’s safe to assume that you two were using your respective Rings?” he asked.

Dino frowned as he heard Alaudi’s question. The man, somehow, sounded as if he was interrogating Kyouya and, frankly, Dino didn’t know whether it was a good thing or not.

"That is everyone I was aware of," Kyouya said, somewhat proud at how level he managed to keep his voice. He closed his eyes, half in genuine exhaustion, half to conceal his thoughts. "Before you suggest anything ridiculous, though, Suzuki Adelheid was in the other hall with Cavallone at the time of the attack. She is good, but not good enough... to be in two places at once."

“Not many people can be good enough to be in two places at once, but manipulating thing from some distance away is not too difficult, as I’m sure you’d know.” Alaudi said lightly, although he was still watching Hibari very closely. “Let’s just say I don’t believe someone like you would lower your defense without any valid reasons at all.”

Now Dino’s eyes narrowed and he chose to speak up. “Alaudi-san, are you suggesting that Adel-san is the one who attacked Kyouya?” he frowned. It’s not possible... right?

Alaudi tilted his head slightly to stare at Dino. “...I’m not suggesting anything, Cavallone Decimo.” he answered with a shrug.

"Try to think for a second, both of you," Kyouya sighed. "I've trained the girl for half a year, now. I know what she's capable of... and more importantly, I can recognize her attacks. Do you really think... I wouldn't know if it had been her?" He just preferred to handle things himself.

Dino looked almost relieved when he heard Kyouya’s words and he heaved a sigh, although now that the suspicion had been planted in his mind, he wasn’t sure it’d leave anytime soon.. “That’s... true enough. You must have known if it was Miss Adel...” he murmured.

“...Hmm.” Alaudi certainly wouldn’t dismiss the probability just because Hibari said something like that, but he would back down for now, especially considering the event that had happened soon after Hibari’s incident. “Well, I guess it couldn’t be her, considering she is now lying on the hospital bed, just like you, just few rooms down from here.” The way he said that was so light it almost as if he didn’t care about it at all.

"What?!" Kyouya's eyes flew wide in shock as he stared at Alaude in disbelief.

Alaudi blinked as he took in the shocked expression of Hibari and Dino. “Oh. Right. You two don’t know about it. Yes, Suzuki Adelheid was attacked soon after your incident, Hibari Kyouya.” he scowled. “We still don’t know who attacked her. It might or might not be the same person who attacked you, but we’re still looking for the culprit.” he continued.

“Someone managed to slip into the university and attack the people in it. It’s dangerous.” Dino commented with a scowl. Oh, he didn’t like this situation at all.

Kyouya closed his eyes again. The only reaction he showed was the way his hands clenched at the bedsheets for a moment before he relaxed them again, startled by the flash of pain it caused. "...Whoever dares attack my students will pay for it." Except he was in no condition to exact revenge.

“Ah, Kyouya.” Dino certainly noticed the pained expression on Kyouya’s face when that man clenched his hands too tight. He immediately went to the bed side and took the younger man’s hand, inspecting whether there’s blood there or not.

“Don’t worry, Hibari Kyouya. I won’t forgive that kind of rules breaking in the university too. If you want to make the culprit pays, I suggest you take a rest so that you will be able to return to your full health soon.” Alaudi said calmly. Oh, he wasn’t kidding. He would certainly make anyone who dared to do this pay dearly.

There was no blood, but Kyouya nevertheless let Dino hold his hand. Just because he was too tired to take it away, of course. No other reason whatsoever. "...I hate this."

Dino didn’t say anything in comment to Kyouya’s words, he simply hold the younger man’s hand and squeezed slightly tighter. “Do you know where her room is, Alaudi-san? I want to visit her.”

“I know, but I think it’d be better if you wait for a while before you visit her, Cavallone Decimo. She is still in somewhat critical situation, from what I last heard. Besides, you have your own special person to worry about, right?” Alaudi’s blue eyes moved between Hibari and Dino.

"I'm fine." Kyouya didn't open his eyes. "Especially given that there has been no less than three Cavallone men guarding the room at all times." Just because he couldn't move much didn't mean his instincts didn't work. "But if she's still in bad condition... visiting would do no good."

A sigh escaped from Dino’s lips as he heard Kyouya’s words. It was true enough. “This makes me worry, though. Two accidents in such a short time... I know the people in the university are dangerous people, but to think there would be attacks to the students and teachers,” the blond man shook his head. “I’d never think something like this would happen.”

“No one can predict anything like this will happen,” Alaudi added with a light shrug. “Although, I doubt no one is really surprised by this events. For now, the security in the university has been increased noticeably and it looks like the Arcobaleno finally decided to do something.”

"I wouldn't call them accidents," Kyouya snorted. "Rather, I would be concerned about the... motives behind this. I have plenty of enemies... but few who would have reason to attack Adelheid as well." He paused. "The only thing we have in common is that we are among the university's strongest fighters." No pride or bragging, merely a fact.

Of course, there was a chance the second attack was a backlash of the first, but he wasn't about to share that theory.

“Or perhaps they attack you and Suzuki Adelheid because you two are the strongest fighters in either Vongola or Shimon Family.” Alaudi said. “They might attack you and then Suzuki Adelheid to provoke both Shimon and Vongola.” he added.

“Those are possible reasons too, but I think the one thing we should focus on is about actually catching the culprit at the moment.” Dino commented, his face serious for once. “Does Miss Adel has someone who watches over her, Alaudi-san?” it might not be impossible for the culprit to come back and finish their job if they found out that Adelheid was still alive.

“I think Katou Julie is there.”

''Hm. Herbivores." Well, at least he knew Suzuki Adelheid was being guarded by someone who would not allow any harm on her. Kyouya would not like for his student to die before he managed to question her.

“Hey, I’m sure Julie-kun will do a really good job in watching over Miss Adel, Kyouya!” Dino, somehow, felt like he should speak up for Julie. He and that man are so very similar, after all.

“Oh, and I’ve heard that the young Giglionero Donna often comes to visit her too.” Alaudi added.

"I never said he won't," Kyouya replied. "Just pointed out the two of you are... similar."

Dino chuckled. “You’ve said it lots of time already, Kyouya.” he shook his head softly before giving a kiss to Kyouya’s forehead. “Although, I’m sure Julie-kun will be happy if he knows you hold him in such high regard.” he continued with a grin.

"I have little information on his actual fighting skills," Kyouya murmured. He was starting to get tired once again. He hated having his body so weak. "However, I know there's very little he wouldn't... do for her..."

Alaudi, taking notice of his successor’s apparent tiredness, stood up from his chair. “Well, now that I’ve told you two the news, I will go back to the university then. Do get well soon, Hibari Kyouya. We do still need to do our sparring.” he finished with a smirk before nodding at Dino and walking out of the room.

Dino waited until Alaudi had closed the door behind him before sighing and taking a seat on the chair previously occupied by the fair headed man. “Do you want to sleep now, Kyouya?” he asked in a soft tone.

"...I might." Kyouya's hand moved towards Dino just a bit. "Not like there's much else here... for me to do..."

A small and soft smile appeared on Dino’s face and he caressed Kyouya’s hair gently. “Sleep well then, Kyouya. I’ll still be here when you wake up.” he chuckled. “As always.”

"Stupid herbivore." Nevertheless, Kyouya's lips curled a bit.

“Yours only.” Dino grinned, not at all offended by Kyouya’s words. “Sleep tight and dream of me, Love.”

"Hope that it isn't nightmares."

“...I hope it isn’t too.” The blond man sighed. “It’ll be better if you sleep without dreaming at all rather than having a nightmare about me.”

"I'll see what I can do..." Though right now, he just wanted any kind of sleep.

Dino laughed softly. “Alright. No more talking now. Goodnight, Kyouya.” he planted another soft kiss to the younger man’s forehead and watched as sleep slowly overtook him.

Kyouya didn't respond, drifting to sleep, yet his hand sought out Dino's, sleepily feeling the ring there.
