[Log] Herbivorous Meeting

Mar 12, 2011 23:32

Who: Julie Katou and Dino Cavallone
What: The two herbivores finally meet~
When: March 12th
Where: The Training Facility
Rating: PG

Julie searched through the training facility, hoping to catch sight of Adelheid fighting.  He knew that this was the most likely that Adelheid would be.  However, he wasn’t getting very far in his search.  None of the rooms contained his beautiful ice queen, and he was beginning to get discouraged.  He thought about giving up and heading to someplace else that his fellow family member could be.

There was still one place he hadn’t checked yet.  He headed toward the largest of the training rooms, hoping to catch a glimpse of his lovely ice queen in action.

Well, apparently, for once, Kyouya was not biting someone to death, Dino thought as he scanned around the largest training room and finding no one there. He had no idea where his lover would be. Dino had checked Kyouya’s room, the man was not there. Perhaps he was having a class.

Dino sighed softly. He couldn’t say he wasn’t disappointed because he couldn’t meet Kyouya, but he figured that if the man wasn’t there, Dino might as well go back to his room and do some paperwork... or take a nap.

The blond man turned around and was about to walk out of the building when he saw someone entering the training room. Dino’s eyebrow rose. Well, the student who had just entered was not someone Dino had ever seen before... did he come here to train?

“Hello there,” Dino greeted the new-comer.

Well, that was certainly not the person that Julie was looking for.  He glanced quickly around, thinking that maybe Adelheid was hiding somewhere, but he knew that she wasn’t.  He put his hands in his pockets, looking the other man over.  He was certainly older, but not much older than he himself was.  Probably a professor hoping to use the training facilities.

He gave the other a grin, rocking a little on his heels.  Well, since he couldn’t find Adelheid, he might as well find out a little about this mysterious stranger.

“Hi~” he replied, pulling his hand out his pocket to give a little wave. “Looking for someone?”

“Ah, yes, I was looking for Hibari-sensei, actually.” Dino answered with a grin. “What about you? Are you here to train or are you looking for someone else too, emm?” He had just realized that he didn’t know the newcomer’s name.

He chuckled a little as he looked Dino over. “So, you must be Cavallone-sensei.  Or, as Hibari-sensei called you, the perverted herbivore with sappy tendencies.  He said that we would probably get along”  He smiled back. “I’m Julie, and I happen to be searching for my darling Adelheid.”

Dino rolled his eyes, not at all surprised that Kyouya would say something like that about him, before smiling towards Julie. “You’ve met Kyouya then.” He commented. “Miss Adelheid, huh...? No wonder Kyouya would think that we’ll get along just fine.” A small laugh.

“I met him briefly when I was spending some time here with my lovely ice queen~  He was warning us about the rules regarding public displays of affection.” He gave a chuckle. “Although, for once, I wasn’t breaking any rules.”

He gave the other a smile and moved further into the room, looking around again. “Hibari-sensei thought that we would get along because we’re both idiots.  He asked if we were related at one point.  I guess that some of my answers to his questions were similar to yours.”

“I’d think so. If you’ve actually broken the rule at that time, I’d think that you’ll still, at the very least, supporting a bruise on your face.” Dino commented with a smirk. He knew that Kyouya wouldn’t go easy at him if Julie did break the rules. “Although, I’m sure Miss Adelheid wouldn’t let you breaking the rules, especially with her.”

“Related?” Dino laughed. “I’m sure this is the first time I’ve ever met you though, Julie-san.” He said.

“Oh, my dear Adel lets me know when I’m going too far, as I’m sure Hibari-sensei lets you know.  I doubt that I’ll be breaking any rules like that with her any time soon.” He smiled a bit. “I’m still working on getting her to let me kiss her.”

He laughed. “Oh, I told him that it wasn’t possible.  He just thought that it was strange that two people without any connection thought so similarly.  I told him that since he and Adelheid are so similar in some aspects, that there would be two of us.”

“Good luck with that, Julie-san. I need more than five years to actually accomplish that.” Dino said with a small chuckle. “Perhaps you can try sparring with her. If Miss Adel is anything like my Kyouya, I’m sure she’d get the most excited after a satisfactory fight.”

“Well, at first I also thought that Kyouya and Miss Adel were related somehow. I mean, even their appearance was similar.” He shook his head in amusement. “You and I at least have a very different physical appearance.”

“Well, I have a bit of a head start.  I’m an old childhood friend, so I’ve got a bit more than five years under my belt.” His fingers traced a dent in the wall where Adelheid’s fan sunk in when he was there. “My problem is getting her to trust me again.”

“I noticed how similar they looked as well.  Although, I have to say, my Adel is the sexier of the two~” And then he chuckled. “I would say that we do.  You’re prettier than me for one thing.”

“Getting her to trust you again?” Dino raised his eyebrow in questioning manner. “I’m... sure that will be a little bit difficult.” He didn’t think people like Adelheid and/or Kyouya would be able to forgive someone who had broken their trust, after all.

“Oh, I must disagree with you, Julie-san. No one will ever beat my Kyouya’s sexiness.” Dino retorted with a grin before he laughed. “My, should I take it as a flattery? Thank you.”

He glanced back at him before leaning against the wall. “I pushed her and my family away for far too long in order to protect them from me.  She knows the circumstances now.” He sighed a little.  He knew that he had screwed up, but he was willing to take the steps to gain her trust back. “I’m willing to take the time that it takes to get her trust me again.

“Then we’ll have to agree to disagree, because I don’t think anyone will beat my Adel’s supple curves~” He smirked a bit. “I only give flattery where flattery is due~”

“Ah,” Dino commented with a nod. He could understand the necessity of pushing people away in order to protect them. He doubted that Miss. Adel would forgive Julie even after she knew the reason of Julie’s behaviour, though. “I’m sure that Miss. Adel would forgive you sooner than later, Julie-san. If you’re as stubborn as I am, I’m sure you’ll be able to make her forgive you.” He said with a smirk. Most of times, Kyouya only gave into Dino because of his persistence, after all.

He laughed. “Indeed. I don’t think curves will do anything to me, ever again, once I’ve gotten used with Kyouya’s lithe yet muscular body.” A smile then appeared on Dino’s face. “Well, well, you’re quite a funny person, aren’t you?”

“Well, she is giving me a chance to prove myself.  She’s agreed to go out on a date with me~” he told the other, smiling. He knew that it was only a matter of time before he could get her to trust him again.  He was taking the steps necessary to get her to trust him, and he was determined. “Oh, I believe that my persistence will pay off.  I just need to...adjust a few things, that’s all.”

He smirked a little. “I should be grateful then, because I don’t have to worry about someone so much more handsome than myself stealing my lovely darling~” He quirked an eyebrow, but smiled. “What makes you say that?”

“She did? Whoa, lucky you!” Dino claimed with a chuckle. “Good luck then, Julie-san. If you do know Miss Adel well, I do think that you’ll know the best way to gain her trust again.”

“Oh, I’m sure that I’m not Miss Adel’s type, Julie-san, even if I am interested in her. Besides, Kyouya won’t let me live for long if I’m interested in anyone other than him. He, apparently, is quite possessive, after all.” There certainly was a fond smile on Dino’s face as he said that.

“Well, for once, you’re very friendly. You’ve only met me and already you’re acting like we are best friends. Despite all of your friendliness, though, you’re very good in hiding your abilities. I haven’t been able to read you at all in the duration of our conversation.” Dino answered lightly. Just because he was friendly, it didn’t mean that Dino wouldn’t take precaution when talking with someone he had only met.

He smiled a bit. “I hope that I still know her well enough at least.  It’s been a long time since I’ve been close to her, after all.”

He quirked an eyebrow at that. “Well, well.  It seems that you don’t mind that possessiveness at all.  Then again, that’s how it is with the carnivores, isn’t it?  Say they don’t need something, yet when they have it, they don’t want to give it up.”

Julie just smiled at Dino. “Isn’t that something that should be natural, given our business?  Allowing others to read us too easily, well...that could mean our death in the right circumstances.” He cocked his head to the side.  “I’m not one to give away my abilities unless it’s absolutely necessary, Cavallone-sensei, and I see no need for them here.”  He looked at him. “Despite not being able to read me though, you’ve already formed an opinion on me.”

“Just hope that Miss Adel hadn’t changed much, then.” Dino returned Julie’s smile with one of his own. The Don then laughed. “Well, I can’t very much mind it if I’m also a possessive person, myself, right? Besides, Kyouya is so damn hot while he is jealous~” he grinned. “Indeed. So, you should work fast and make sure that Miss Adel hadn’t gotten anyone else she considered as her ‘possession’, Julie-san.”

Julie’s words were very true and they brought a small smirk on Dino’s face. “Ah, I’m sorry for that, Julie-san, but I can be quite presumptuous sometimes. Do forgive me if I’m wrong.”

He smiled fondly. “Oh, she has changed a bit, but I think that I’ll be able to figure her out soon enough.”  He smiled at him. “I suppose that’s where we differ.  As long as I know she cares for me, I don’t need to be possessive.  All I wish for is her happiness, whether it be with me, or with someone else.”  And then he laughed. “Oh, I would know if she had already chosen someone.”

He smirked as well. “No, you’re not presumptuous at all.  And you’re not wrong either.  Well, not entirely at least.”

“You’re a better man than me then, Julie-san.” Dino admitted with a thin smile. “I would never be able to see Kyouya with someone else. I’m a selfish person, you see, so if I couldn’t have something that I really wanted, I wouldn’t let anyone else having them.”

“Hmm, should I be wary of you then, Julie-san?” The question was asked in joking manner, although Dino’s eyes were quite serious as he asked that.

“I wouldn’t say that is selfish.  I would say that it’s an appropriate response.” He shrugged a little. “I’ve never really been very typical.  And Adelheid sacrifices so much of herself for our family that I could never ask her to sacrifice something that makes her happy.”

“Of me?  No, there’s no need to be wary of me.” He paused for a moment. “But not everything and everyone is what they appear.”

“Only appropriate since Kyouya is actually mine. I shouldn’t be that selfish if he did find someone who could make him happy though, right?” Not that Dino would care about that kind of possibility because, frankly, Dino would do anything he could to make Kyouya his. “I see. Miss Adel does seem to care about your family a lot. Even, perhaps, more so than Enma-kun himself.”

A wry smile appeared on Dino’s face. “I grew up in a mafia family and am a Don for more than ten years no, Julie-san. Do trust me when I said I know the meaning of your words so very well.”

“I think that would only be a problem if you knew that he would be happy with anyone else.  But I doubt that he would be.” He gave a nod. “Our family is everything to her.  To all of us, really.  But she takes it to another level, which is one of the things I love about her.”

Julie just smirked at him before shaking his head. “A number of people say that.  But no, they really don’t know.  There are very few people who know what I mean.”

“I certainly hope that he would only be happy with me.” Dino commented with a grin. “...That’s an admirable thing, certainly, but I do think that... for a girl, no matter how strong she is, it will be too much, sometimes, to think about a family too much.” He then chuckled. “Don’t tell Miss Adel I said that, though. I’m sure she will kill me for that!”

Dino raised his eyebrow. “Well then, let’s see if I can be one of those few people.” He smiled.

“Tell me, do you see him allowing himself to get close to another?”  he asked, genuinely curious.  “I think that, for anyone, focusing that much on a family to the point that you sacrifice every bit of happiness...it’s unhealthy.  It doesn’t matter whether she’s a girl.”  He shrugged a little. “Trust me, Adel won’t hear it from me.  She’ll shoot the messenger, to borrow a phrase.”

He smiled a little. “Maybe one day, when things are a little more...stable.”

Julie’s innocent question made Dino laughed. “Oh, well, Kyouya had said that I’m crazy to even want to get close to him, but who knows? Maybe if there is someone as insane as me, that person will try to get close to Kyouya and, perhaps, Kyouya will let them.” Dino couldn’t see it happening anytime soon, though. “Well then, we better keep this as a secret between us, hmm? I wouldn’t want you to be killed by Miss Adelheid, after all.” Dino chuckled.

“Stability is something very rare in this world of ours though, Julie-san.”

“...I think that you’re wrong.  I don’t think that Hibari-sensei would allow anyone so close.  I think that you are special.  Not because you’re insane, but because you have something that no one else does.” Julie just chuckled.  He knew that Adelheid would go after him for even thinking about sharing that with her. “She wouldn’t kill me.  But it would hurt a lot.”

“Well, I suppose I should say, when things are more stable for me.”

“Yeah, stubbornness like no other.” Dino commented with a grin, there might even be a proud tone in his voice when he said that. “Of course she wouldn’t kill you, it’s against the university rules to kill in the university ground, after all.”

“Oh? ...Do you mind if I ask what do you mean by that, Julie-san?”

He grinned back. “Oh, I don’t think that it’s that.  I’m sure that there’s another reason.”  He laughed a little.  “Don’t tell her I said this, but she has a soft spot for me~  Otherwise, I would have been dead a long time ago.”

“...I suppose that I mean when I have more control over my own life.”

“Perhaps.” Dino commented with a smile. There might be another reason as to why Kyouya accepted Dino and he, surely, wished it was because the man actually felt something for him other than the thrill of having strong sparring opponent. “That is very true. I’d never think that Miss Adelheid will let you live for so long if she doesn’t, at the very least, care about you.”

Julie’s answer certainly didn’t give much hints about what had happened to the man for Dino, but he, nonetheless, smiled at the other man. “I hope that time will come soon then, Julie-san.”

“Especially with some of the things that I’ve pulled with her.” He smirked a little, “She doesn’t like to admit that under that harsh exterior is a very soft middle.”

He nodded a little.  He hadn’t planned to reveal as much as he had so far, but he was lucky that Dino, unlike some of the others here, hadn’t read under the cryptic statement.  His contact with those that possessed people must have been minimal. “There are plans to do that.  It’s just going to take a while.”

“Is that what makes you attracted to her, Julie-san?” Dino asked curiously.

Indeed. Dino’s interaction with either Mukuro or Spade was very minimal, so it was not actually surprising that he wouldn’t be able to read the underlying meaning in Julie’s words. “Usually, plans that were thought well do need time to work. I’m sure the waiting will be worth it if it works in the end.” He commented with a smile.

“There are a lot of things that attract me to her, and have for a long time.  Her unwavering loyalty, her harshness tempered with a kind word and smile for those she cares about, her passion, her...well, I suppose I just love everything about her.” He smiled fondly, the look in his eyes distant. “For all that I’ve messed around with other women, she’s the only one that’s made me want to give it all up.”

“I hope that it will be.” He was quiet for a moment. “I’m tired of pushing everyone away because of it.”  And he was.  He was tired of pushing Adelheid most of all.  But he couldn’t take the chance that something would happen to her.

“Why do you keep messing around with other women even when you’ve realized that you want her, Julie-san?” The blond haired man asked, clearly not understanding that. Dino, himself, had stopped himself from sleeping around once he realized his feelings for Kyouya, after all.

Dino offered Julie a warm smile. He could understand, if only a little bit, what Julie was feeling. He’d hate to keep pushing the people he cares about away too, after all, even if it was meant to protect them.

“Honestly?  Because for a long time, it was the only way to keep her away from me.  I pushed and I pushed, and I was...lonely.”  He looked away. “I had no choice.  It doesn’t make sense, but I had no choice.  Now...I have to try and get her back.”

Julie sighed a little. And then he smiled, as if the serious moment hadn’t happened. “I was an idiot, but that’s going to change.  I’m going to give it all up for her.”

“Ah, so Miss adelheid is another stubborn person, then.” Dino concluded with a small chuckle. From what he had heard from Julie’s answer, it was clear that Adelheid wouldn’t let herself be pushed away unless Julie did something extreme. Apparently, sleeping around was the only way Julie could do to make Adel actually walked away from him.

“Oh, I doubt people like us will even change from being an idiot, Julie-san, but I will certainly support you if you choose to actually stop sleeping around and decided to focus on Miss Adelheid instead.” He responded in light tone.

“That’s another thing that I love about her though.  If she wasn’t so stubborn or headstrong, she wouldn’t be the woman that I love.” He smiled a bit, looking at Dino. “I’m sure that you know what I mean.” He could tell from his brief meeting with Hibari that he was a stubborn man, set in his ways.  Even if he did seem to have a love for adorable animals.

He laughed loudly. “Well, that’s true at least.  But hopefully, I’ll be a different type of idiot now.” He smiled at Dino at his offer.  He hadn’t expected it, but he was glad to have the support.  No one had ever really supported him before.  “Thank you for that.”

Dino chuckled. “Indeed, I do know what you mean.” Kyouya was very stubborn, too, but since Dino was stubborn too, he didn’t think much about Kyouya’s stubbornness. “Although, that particular trait of him is the main reason for our fights, usually.” He added with a wry smile.

“To borrow Kyouya’s word, let’s hope that MIss Adel will consider you as an omnivore instead of just a herbivore, Julie-san!” He grinned. “You’re very welcome!” Dino’s grin went slightly wider as an idea came into his mind. “You know, Julie-san... perhaps we can do a double date sometimes.”

“So, it’s not just me and Adelheid that fight because of our stubbornness.” He chuckled a little as he thought of the fight they had had not too long before.  Though it was serious in nature, the fight had revealed thing to both of them and, in Julie’s mind, had brought them closer.  “It certainly keeps things interesting, doesn’t it~?”

He laughed a little bit.  “Well, I think she’s more concerned about me being a pervert.  She knows that I can fight when it’s called for, though I try not to most of the time.” He grinned back when he heard the idea.  “Well, that’s certainly an interesting prospect~”

“Oh, it’s certainly not.” Dino shook his head in wry amusement. “I never like it when I fight with Kyouya other than sparring, though...” He sighed, also remembering the one particular fight that had almost broken their engagement. “I am hoping for no more fights with him, but I know that’s impossible.”

“Hmm... I guess that’s where Kyouya is different with your Miss Adelheid. My Kyouya didn’t mind much by my history of sleeping around. Although, of course, the fact that I stopped when I realized that I was in love with Kyouya might actually help to calm him down.” Besides, it wasn’t like Dino was sleeping around just for the fun of it. “I’m sure it’ll be very interesting! You said that you’d go on a date with Miss Adelheid soon, right? Perhaps I can ask Kyouya to go in a date too at the same day!”

“Well, I’m not talking about a big fight, really.  I’m talking about the little fights about stupid stuff.  Sometimes those fight make things interesting.”  He smiled a little.  “Hopefully, you don’t have a big fight with Hibari-sensei.”

“Well, I don’t think that it’s my sleeping around so much that bothers her, but my nonchalance about it.  I guess that she...doesn’t want to be one of many, not that I blame her.  I need to just show her that she’s the only one for me.”  He chuckled a little before just smiling at Dino. “You’ll forgive me if I be a little selfish and ask if we could wait until after this date?  This is my first real date with Adelheid and I want it to be...special.”  He smiled.  “But after that, I would love to plan something~”

“Considering Kyouya’s and my characters... I doubt that a big fight would never happen, but I hope it won’t happen anytime soon or too often.” Dino commented with a thin smile. He, then, laughed as he heard Julie’s next statement. “Of course, I understand perfectly, Julie-san. Well, then, if after you plan for another date with Miss Adelheid after this one, just let me know. It’d be... interesting to see both Kyouya and Miss Adelheid in a date.”

“Adelheid and I, with our personalities, tend to fight a lot.  Well...she fights, I chuckle and tease her.”  He smiled.  “It’s a dynamic that works well with us.  Just like I’m sure that you and Hibari-sensei have a dynamic that fits for you.”  Then he smiled fondly.  “Thank you for understanding.  I’m hoping that this date goes well enough that there will be a second~  I’ll definitely get in touch with you to make plans~”

“I... guess you can say so.” Dino chuckled, wondering what kind of dynamics that he actually had with Kyouya. Well, if sparring and fighting each other could be considered as a dynamic then Dino guessed they did have it. “I’m sure that as long as you don’t do anything that Miss Adelheid dislike, then the probability of a second date will be big enough. I will wait for news from you, then, Julie-san.”

He smiled. “I’m certainly looking forward to it~  It should be fun to see how they act when they’re together and with us.”  Julie then chuckled a bit, thinking about all the different possibilities. Adelheid on a date alone was a bit of a mind-boggling thought,  But to go on a double date?  That was something else entirely.  Especially when the other couple was similar in some aspects to themselves.

“I hate to cut this meeting short, but I was hoping to find my dear Adelheid here.  Since she isn’t, I should start looking in some of her other favorite places.”

Dino grinned. “Yeah, I just hope that no one will be hurt if we do decide to go out on a double date.” He commented in a light tone. “Ah! Yes, of course. I think I’ll go back to my room to do some paperwork since Kyouya is not here,” Dino shrugged before offering his hand out to Julie. “It was a pleasure to talk with you, Julie-san. I hope we’ll meet again soon.”

Julie smiled and took his hand, giving it a firm shake.  “It was a pleasure meeting and talking to you too, Cavallone-sensei.  Hibari-sensei was right, I do like you.  I hope that we get the chance to talk again soon.”

Dino returned Julie’s handshake before smiling at the man. “Of course.” He then watched as Julie walked out of the room. “Katou Julie... huh.” He murmured with a grin. “Well, well, another interesting person in the university. This will be fun~”
