Strangely, Kusakabe's very target was currently in the store, dress like a perfectly normal human being, staring down at a pineapple and trying to figure out whether he wanted to buy it or not. He's had the oddest craving for fruits lately.

Hibari, of course, doesn't notice Kusakabe come in, since the fruit stands were located near the back. That, and he still doesn't know whether he wants the pineapple or the strawberries.

Kusakabe goes around the store with a basket, picking out bread and easily prepared foods. He is about to step into the produce section when he catches sight of a very familiar profile, staring intensely at some kind of fruit.

Was that...? Kusakabe doesn't know whether to call out a greeting.

Or he could always just get both. Hibari frowned at the pineapple, then at the pack of plastic-wrapped strawberries, and eventually dumped both fruits in question in the shopping cart he was toting along. He turned at that moment, and blinked the moment he saw who was watching him.

"Hm. Tetsu."

"Ah, Kyo-san," greets Kusakabe awkwardly. "Grocery shopping?"

"Yes."

Hibari moves past Tetsu, shuttling along with his shopping cart and staring the list he had penned out for himself.

"Ah." Kusakabe blinks. Somehow it was hard to imagine someone like Hibari doing something as mundane as grocery shopping. "I was picking up a few things for you too, Kyo-san. Shall I drive you back later?"

Oh? Well, in a way, he should have expected as much from Kusakabe. The man was very efficient.

"I can drive myself."

Now for the milk...

Kusakabe nods. He doesn't pursue the matter-- it's a given that Hibari likes to do his own thing.

"Do you need anything else, Kyo-san?" He displays his own basket.

Hibari turns just once to wave the list at Kusakabe before puttering off to another aisle. It's decidedly odd, still, how he's perfectly all right with Kusakabe hanging around but so aversed to having just about anyone else hanging on to him like this.

...Of course, Kusakabe HAD worked for it. And rather hard, from what Hibari could recall. Although he honestly couldn't remember much of the the man beyond their days at the university, even if he knows, for a fact, that they went to middle school together. Kusakabe was even the head of the Disciplinary Committee before Hibari took over (seized command).

Kusakabe didn't get a chance to really see what was on that list. Something about milk, and meat of some kind.

...Can Hibari even cook? Kusakabe doesn't remember.

He follows a comfortable distance behind, ready to assist if need be, but otherwise unwilling to interfere, even with something as trivial as getting groceries. It's always been like this between them -- Hibari does whatever he thinks fit, and Kusakabe does the rest.
