Hibari rounded back with a large bottle of chilled barley tea and a glass. He sat down, poured himself a glass. He knew better than to ask Xanxus whether he wanted some.

"Timoteo was around. We didn't talk. You?"

OF COURSE.

"Ah."

Another sip. A careful measurement of things unsaid.

"He and I haven't talked in months."

No derisive tone? No mockery? No disdain? That was a bit of a surprise as well. Just because they had fixed things a month back did not mean that they were totally back to normal. Better than it had been in the past few years, but not quite fine.

He knew what else Xanxus wanted to ask, however. How could he have not known?

"I don't want to talk to him, so why should I?"

Oh Xanxus. SEEKING FOR NORMALCY, ARE YOU?

Hibari only leaned back in his seat and sipped his tea. He and Xanxus both knew that there was more to his reason that what he had said, but he didn't want to explain. He shouldn't have to.

Fair enough. He wasn't going to push, Xanxus wasn't going to tell. It was time to change the subject.
