So talkative. orz extremeonwheels November 11 2008, 01:34:48 UTC
“It helps!”

“No,” he replied flatly.

“Fine,” was the agreeable answer. “Now, what are your plans?”

Ryohei just told them he didn’t know, right? Why did they keep on asking. Clearly, boxers may just be as dumb as Lissuria said they all were! And that was bad! Very bad! “I. Don’t. Know! Ah, oh no, we’re supposed to have dinner with Kyoko tomorrow night!”

There was a long pause, in which Kyosuke took another drink of his beer, Tanda put a hand to his face, and Ken snorted.

“And you told us you weren’t together,” the boy muttered.

“Maybe,” the coach put in gently, “You should figure out what exactly you feel for him? And then you’ll know what you want to do.”

“I want us to be friends again!” he declared, because that was how he felt.

“You know that’s never going to happen, right?” Ken jabbed. “He obviously wants you to be more, so of course now that he’s confessed to you, how can he just settle for friends? All or nothing, senpai!” Tanda and Kyosuke gave him suspicious looks, but didn’t say a word.

“Do you like him that way?”

Ryohei fixed his coach with a look. “I dunno. How am I supposed to know? I didn’t even think about it til now, coach!”

Tanda smacked him upside the head and left it there. “You are an idiot and he has bad taste. Clearly, you should be together.” Ryohei batted his hand away.

“You’re not helping!” he accused, annoyed.

“He is,” Kyosuke said, taking up his partner’s work and smacking Ryohei from the other side.

“Look, how about we do this.” Tanda was always the sensible one. Even if he was mean and withheld information that Ryohei could have used months ago. “Let’s try to figure out what you feel, all right? I’ll say something and you answer yes or no.”

“Ok,” he answered, still a little sullen. That sounded easy enough.

“You like him.”

“Yeah.”

“As a friend?”

“Yeah.”

“How about as a boy--- girl--- a lover?”

“I dunno.”

“Yes or no.”

“I dunno!”

Tanda gave him an exasperated look. “Right, right, let’s delve into that.”

“… Ok,” Ryohei answered unhappily, slouching in his seat.

“Can you see yourself hanging out with him a lot?”

“Yeah.”

“Can you see yourself going out with him?”

“… Yeah.”

“Can you see yourself sharing a house, pets, and things with him?”

“… Maybe not the things. His clothes are confusing.”

“But the others?”

“Yeah, sure.”

“How about a lifetime?” And Ryohei knew that this question was important, so he pondered on it for a full three seconds before answering. The answer came easily enough.

“Yeah.”

“WHAT?” Kyosuke was at his collar, shaking him. “YOU DIDN’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.”

“I DID SO!” Ryohei howled, attempting to pry Kyosuke’s fists from his shirt because that was new and he didn’t want it to tear.

It took the combined efforts of Tanda and Ken to pull the other powerhouse back, and Ryohei hotly glared at him for implying that he didn’t know what he was talking about. HE SAID YES, DIDN’T HE?!

“Senpai, if you know this, then what’s your problem?” Ken muttered, looking put out.

“Well I only found out now,” he muttered defensively.

“So what are you going to DO?” Ken was really good at this grilling thing, and his coach had called him a genius. It made Ryohei wonder a little how it would be like if they faced each other off on the ring one day. Although it was impossible because the kid was in another division entirely. Not that Ryohei would lose or anything.

“I dunno. He doesn’t want to talk to me and I dun wanna just bug him! Maybe at dinner? But I dun want Kyoko to see that….” His head hurt.

“You know what, Ryohei,” his coach said, adjusting his glasses. “I’ll give you the week off. Go fix your heart hurt.” Ryohei could have wibbled if he had been any less of a man.

“Um, thanks guys.”
