I am sixteen going on seventeen

Two hours and thirty six minutes more of my birthday!

Today was pretty chill. I still had to go to school which was... meh. Everyone telling me "happy birthday" was pretty sweet though. I had a great time on the bus playing "let's see who can throw this piece of candy down the other person's shirt" (believe or not we actually made the game up on the spot) with my bff. We were cracking up SO bad!

The house cleaner came really late today, so we were forced to leave (by my mom who says that they clean better when we're not home) our house. Pops wanted to go to the park but mom said "there's flies", so we went to the mall instead. So get this: we're walking around the mall with a bag of palabok and a mango cake, as my parents said, "like homeless people" - they were still in their work clothes, very homeless-looking. We were going to sit outside, but my Dad talked to the workers at Sbarro and they let us eat inside. I go to the wash room to wash my hands and I come back to the table and we have paper plates with our silverware from home. I started busting up and teasing my mom. She defended that she was rushed. Anyway, we eat and my Dad is all excited for the cake because he asked the workers to sing "Happy Birthday" to me. I was getting really embarrassed. Thankfully, the workers didn't actually sing to me, but my dad did give a piece of cake to everyone in the restaurant; granted, there were only three other patrons and three workers, but still. We left the restaurant and were walking to Steve and Barry's (my mom wanted to look at the Jessica Parker jeans) when my parents stopped and literally demanded that I ride the carousel. Of course, I can't say no to them, they pay for everything. I insisted that if I had to ride, then so did my mother. She conceded and I started laughing hysterically. The families walking by probably thought we were crazy - I would. All this time, Dad is cracking up and videotaping the whole thing. I was beyond humiliated.

AFter that, we met my siblings at Pinkberry and I told them about our adventure at the mall. They said I was lucky to have such a memorable 17th birthday not-party. I guess I am lucky.

birthday, life
