down and out in dupont circle and brooklyn

well, if George Orwell wasn't overly bummed then neither am I

been posting sporadically as the summer months progressed. for those who know my day job life, this summer was quite busier than normal. combined with a little twist from the DC government which is taking place now, there was a lot to go through

by the end, I managed to be overly tired, develop stress induced asthma, and become disturbingly ill by the end of the time.

I also managed to play a lot of football, enjoy time with friends new and old, see Gogol, see Polka Madre and Accordion Death Squad, meet up with some fabulous gogolites from other parts of the country, spend labor day in nyc, and share that previously mentioned brazilian absento with the crew from Mehanata

as of last week I am now engaged in a grand jury for my fellow dc citizenry. for those unfamiliar with the grand jury process, basically, you have to be indicted by a grand jury if you are to be charged with a felony. While I can't go into details of what I get to listen to, I can say its not the happiest place in the world, but at least its contributing to society.

Coming up next week are 2 shows that are can't miss, both at the Black Cat: Peelander-Z on Monday the 15 and Balkan Beat Box (with Mehanata mainstay Joro-boro) on the 17th.

aside from that, chilling out around Dc for the time being
a trip to Seattle & Vancouver for some Gogol goodness and a grand jury ending celebration

the other annoyance is that I have to go back to my office when possible at nights during the grand jury duty. I've come to peace with it by now, but lets just say its a sore subject and will stay that way for a while

in the interim, keep being yourselves
keep listening to gypsy music
and keep dancing to whatever strikes your fancy
