posting is overrated
or so I hear
I wouldn't know - I've been not out of the world of late, but out of the posting mindset
since I last wrote about the DC film fest, of which the only film I can say for certain that I'm going to see is Gypsy Caravan (about tourning gypsy musical bands in the US) - probably on Thursday night at 8:30, I've dnoe quite a lot
went to see Bang! Bang! on the 10th up in this little out of the way place in Balmer. Damned fine show too - much better than when I saw tham last at DC9. I'm trying to hopefully book them at the 9 for my birthday at the end of June. Speaking of, birthday celebrations will probably stretch over 3 days, a DC United game, a LDP night, and 4-5 bottles of absinthe.
Also saw these folks (The Noisettes) on their DC swing and they did not disappoint - I'm sticking with them as my favourite band so far this year. Awesome show - Shigai was rolling around on stage while playing. Hey skurtchasor, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm bassists. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm lead-singer bassists more.
Finishing up the music was Saturday's Balkan Beat Box. Perhaps not the smartest decision on my part to go after 2 soccer games earlier in the afternoon, but I didn't stop dancing the entire time. And about halfway through I realized I was dancing almost completely to hip-hop and not looking like a freaky white boy while doing so. See what happenes when the hip-hop isn't all western and ruined by people projecting an image and ignoring the music? Working on Ori to come DJ at DC9 sometime mid-June.
Other than that, suriving server disasters and too many seminars at work.
